Hi Folks,

First off, I apologize because I'm sure this has been asked before but I searched several pages back and couldn't find the answer, so I'm posting it (again probably).

Can other professions use the traps we create? Initially I was told no, but I've seen several on the bazaar and am starting to wonder if that information was inaccurate.

Anyone know for sure?

See you in game!

Seth,

As far as I am aware, the traps are only usable by Scouts.

The reason why you see them on he bazaar is that some lower level scouts buy theirs, instead of crafting them. Also, check how long they've been up to see if they are selling.

Good question, someone who isn't a scout should really post here for posterity. I just haven't ever tested it.

If you check the skill modifiers on your skills screen, you will see that TRAPPING is one of the skill modifiers. I would assume that in order to properly deploy a trap, you not only have to chuck it, you must also pass some sort of success check (much like a "to-hit" check when you use weapons in combat) weighted by the trapping skill modifier.

A lot of people at least have novice scout (it's a useful skill to have) so at the entry level, they at least have a minimal chance of using traps with success. They may complain your products suck because they may not have as consistent success as a Scout with more advanced skills.

As far as people with no scouting skill whatsoever, I don't know if they'll be able to use your traps. Last night, I gave an advanced camping kit (mutiple person camp) to a newbie scout and he said that he couldn't deploy it because it was too complex or he didn't have the skill to use it. So even peoplewithin the Scouting skill tree can't use all Scout specific items. That's why I suspect that the skill modifiers have an important role in the ability to use/deploy Scout specific items. Theremust be eithera threshold skill requirement or a% success check at work.

My 2 credits.
