I have the xp to get one or the other and have some left over but i'm sure if I should just max out Exploration or take harvesting in the hopes that a higher harvesting skill will give me more resources and xp per harvest.

Anyone have any advice on which would be better to take? I was kind of leaning towards harvesting since I think you get more resources/xp per harvest but maybe you don't.

I would say Xplor 4 if the y didn't nerf maskscent. You could get a lot of XP for the increased camo lvl... But I I guess you should go for harvest..

Speaking as a new BE/CH I personally would go with exploration. In my experience I have noticed no increase in harvested materials or exp. And personally I like the ability to run up hills faster, since my wind harvester is on the other side of a mountain from my mineral harvesters. So, imho, go with exploration, hunting is practically worthless. I think the increase in materials harvested is a percentage, so it doesn't really take affect until you can kill larger animals.

with harvesting you get a +10 bonus to hit creatures. probably the better choice. good hunting.
