Thread: Er.. Adhesive mesh trap?

Guys,

I don't know if they are bugged, but I was under the impression that the trap wasn't a "root" but more of a "slowdown". Unless I was on crack while using these traps (a distinct possibility), I've noticed that the mobs do get a bit slower.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Never noticed them slowing down. Of course this was against some huurtons and I went running around screaming like a schoolgirl. I did get the XP from the trap, but those mothers where on top of me in no time.

They work well for me. We were hunting tortons last night and the traps were very effective. I didn't see a root message, but those big ol' turtles sure weren't moving very well.

Adhesive mesh DEFINITLY roots. I have used them before. It doesn't last very long, and the darn things only have 2 uses. I stopped using them and went back to using just p darts after I used up the stack of polymer I bought to make them.

Its strange.. They work sometimes.. but not others.

Example: I'm currently fighting Corellian butterfly warriors. The traps work great on them (sometimes) and work as a root, as far as I know.

But.. try it on a gurrcat... No good.

But hell.. even my p dart won't work on a gurrcat for some reason.. Stupid thing STILL moves faster than me after its been snared. Is that just because it's naturally a really fast animal?

How do these traps work exactly, Delta? Do you know? Do they reduce the animal's speed by a certain amount, or do they reduce it TO a certain amount?

Because it sorta makes the traps utterly useless against certain animals if it only reduces them by x amount if AnimalSpeed - X = still faster than my burst run

I have found that the type of MOB that is held depends on the level of the MOB and the quality of the trap.

A 1% durababilty may hold a butterfly but, not a CL 34. I have thrown trap at a level 34 MOB of Durabilty 15% it held and for quite awhile, someone else was shooting a 2800 DMG carbine at it while it was frozen. By the time the Trap wore off a P-DART slow it down for one last shot.

Nerj,

That is extremely interesting information. This may answer our questions about durability.

I use Adhesive Mesh's against Tortons and they work great, usualy only roots them for about 3 attacks but that's long enough to get out of stampede range, get a few head shots in and then throw the second trap to get the final shots in. Just make sure you have burst run ready incase the trap fails

Is it working for people? Even when it does say that it affected the target (2/5 times it doesn't give me ANY message), the target still seems to be able to move.. Isn't the trap meant to be a root type trap?

Maybe its just specific things that aren't stopped entirely by it?

I beleive these have been bugged for quite some time.

In my experience the P dart "slows" them down, and the Adhesive Mesh "stops" them in their tracks. I have been successful using Adhesive mesh against white and yellow mobs, and they don't move at all. Of course I discovered fighting Mountain Worrts, it doesn't do me much good, because they just spit those green loogies at me. /sigh

derj might have something about the durability though. I will have to test that theory. Most of the time, because of the material I used I guess, my traps come up with a 5% to 15% durability. My traps almost always land, and my P dart and Adhesive mesh generaly, hold for about 15-30 seconds. Depending on the level of creature.

Spitting creatures are extremely innacurate past 35m. Keep that in mind
