Hey all!!

I'm thinking of getting a surveying tool so I can sample/collect some metal for my higher lvl traps while I'm sitting in camp. What tool is everyone using for the surveying/sampling? I see a number of different ones in my generic crafting tool. Thanks.

You'd use the mineral survey device to find metals. You'd use the chemical survey device to find polymers.

Once you survey and area, how do you get the minerals? I have a wind surverying device, but don't know what to do once I find the area. Sorry, noobie and I've tried to read up and find my own answer.

You can't sample with a wind survey device. When you try, you get some kind of notice about not collecting this resource with this device. Kinda makes sense. Think how long you'd have to stand there waving your device in the air to build up power... Wind harvestors are big windmill lookin things. If you want power specifically, you'll have to use a mineral surveying device and look for radioactives. Or buy a deed for a wind/solar harvestor.
