Someone probably posted this before, but I don't remember seeing it.

The easy trick is to only use traps that do not effect the HAM bars. If you use a trap that damages the HAM bar whatever percentage you knock off you will loose when it comes time to get XP for your regular attack.

The way I have been just tearing through XP is to take a mission going after a blue mob and then at the start of combat lob a Lec Dart and a Wire-mesh trap (both 1st level trapping I think, they require the least materials) and then 2-3 shot the mob until it dies. By going after this level of mob I can destroy the entire lair without stopping once, I just need 15 traps pre made of both types. Combine this with a macro to harvest the resource you want as soon as you kill it lets you avoid wasting time checking all the corpses after the battle.

One sidenote, I have not tried damaging the mob first and then throwing traps (doesn't make sense this way) to see if I can still maximize XP. After all, if I am killing things in 2-3 hits it is hard to know when to switch to traps before finishing it off. Oh, I also have Trapping-III but since I am in no danger from the mobs I don't see the point of making the traps that require the most resources when I am killing them so quickly.

Blur,

Good tips. Anyone who is trapping should use these.

Now that I've master the profession, I basically only use the adhesive mesh or phecnacine darts (depends on how much polymer I have on hand) and the glow-wire trap. Good advice above.
