Thread: Question about Survey
Maybe I call help you out. Turns out there are many categories of "scout". Some scouts are primarily 'hunters' orthers are what you might term explorers. I'm what you might call a 'prospector'.
Primarily I make my money by going to remote places, surveying them (to find the minerals/chemicals etc) and then sampling (to extract/collect)what I find.
I feel into this as a way to spend while in camp and its a great way to spend the time, After I've found a site and made sure that there really is material to sample. I set up my camp and start sampling away. This way I collect 2 sets of XP (I'm now a survey 4 and a survival 3). At the say time I'm making money, if I can sell what I sample thst is (Ah the trials antribulations of the prospecting life).
Anyway hope this helps
For what it's worth, you can camp, sample, and craft simultaneously to get 3 sets of exp. Handy if your climbing other artisan trees or medical crafting.
If you're starting as a scout, get novice artisan (actually you might as well get all novice classes as you can always surrender them). You get crafting exp making camps and traps. Even if you don't intend on keeping artisan skills long-term, you can temporarily plow the crafting exp into domestics and make yourself food to use as buffs for combat. Bofa treats are worthless, but some of the higher artisan foods aren't bad at all. The engineering line is also moderately useful for making weapon power-ups.
Umm...starting scouts don't get the survey/sample skill, as far as I am aware.
When we get up higher we get /forage, but that's significantly different than survey/sample.
I believe survey/sample is strictly an artisan thing.
In any event, there are some changes in the pipeline for XP from making traps and camps. More on that after the next update from the Scout dev.
