Thread: Is my con display bugged?
Con colors are different from the colors of the blips that show on the radars.
Radar is simple (well, not so simple, there's lots of flavors - but I'll assume your garden variety mob flavors for now):
yellow = non aggressive
red = aggressive
Con colors are the color that you see when you've targetd the mob. There's a little sunburst icon thing that will range in color from green, to light blue, to dark blue, to white, to yellow, to red. The con determines the relative difficulty of the mob, and it depends on a great many things - weapon skill, weapon equipped, etc. White cons are considered even difficulty. Theoretically, you should lose to them about half the time. In practice, I usually don't see ratios like that until I'm fighting yellows, and some cases, even reds.
Just be aware, that not all cons are created equal. I've run into whites that I can take on 4 at once, and then you get the ones where more than 1 will hand you your head. It's all really just a guidline.
Hope that helps.

Guess I rather over-answered that question, didn't I? ![]()
For further reference, the con color is the colored sunburst thingy to the left of the mob's HAM bars when you have them targeted. If you're not seeing any such thing, I guess you may be bugged.

Xy,
That's a good point. Think of it this way - if the BABY cons blue, what do you think mommy looks like?

The con colors are referring to the colors you see above a creature when you select them. These are usually green, blue, white, yellow, red. The colors on your radar display represent aggressive or non aggressive creatures. Red on your radar means it will attack you, yellow means it won't and blue is another player.
Hope this helps.
I disagree with your second post Viking. That was a well written and consise answer to the question. I wish all posters would answer questions like you did: no BS, just the facts and only the facts. Thanks for the info.

Con color should be the first thing you analyze before attacking. However, if you've never fought the target before you should always follow that up with a Health check. Just hold your mouse cursor over the monster's red HAM bar in your target windowand check the hitpoints. I find whites that have 600 HP and some that have 3500. Also, released pets always con Green but can usually wipe the floor with you. And like someone else mentioned, baby's that con blue can own you as well. Like baby Mountain Squills.
I did not know this. That's a handy tip. Thanks.

Somewhat usful sometimes for me is to '/consider' the target to get a rating on them.
Xygar,
Thanks SO much!
You have no idea how much this has been bugging me. Other people I've run with on missions have said things like "oh, it's got XXX health, we shouldn't mess with it" or something like that, but I've never known how they got that number. I've checked the /examine stats on the creature, but it doesn't say, even though I'm at Hunting IV already. I thought maybe that it was the special abilities of the Ranger profession (where i'm headed to soon), but then others were reading it too, and I still wasn't. So, I was actually wondering if I was bugged...lol.
This is the best tip I've gotten recently. Thanks again.
