Thread: Hunting Method Question
I have been a Scout for some time now, so I am familiar with the basics. I am curious about weapon usage and hunting techniques. I fight exclusively with a rifle and traps so here we go.
I know that to get the best results with a rifle one needs to be prone, but this is counter productive to throwing traps. Do I throw max traps then go prone? I am usually spotted when kneeled and throwing traps almost exclusively after the first trap makes contact so I don't see how this works. I guess my question is more of how to execute this move if it is even effective at all.
Next, since now I am prone with a rifle, should I utilize the Threaten-type shots to keep the critter at bay while I whittle down it's mind pool? If this is not very effective, do I then switch to a pistol? Is this worth the down time while the weapons switch?
I am mostly looking to streamline my hunting style to maximize my XP input and minimize my healing time. Also, I am hunting on Naboo. I have run for what seemed like miles without seeing any critters. Is this normal? I usually hunt SE of Theed. Is there a better area to hunt on Naboo?
Lastly, can someone tell me where the Rebel and Imperial concentrations are on Naboo? I have found an Imperial Recruiter in Theed and Rebel encampments outside of the city, but I have not been to any other towns. Maybe a marathon-type run of Naboo is in order.
Thanks to all how reply.

You don't. I typically engage with rifle until the critter detects and charges me. When he gets close, I stand, throw a few traps and switch to my melee weapon. This way I get a little XP for all three skills with each kill.
That's the way I usually do it. Shoot them until they charge, then drop a trap on them on the way in, switch over to melee (usually unarmed) and just go at them until they drop.

Guys,
What I typically do is throw on mask scent, work up close, throw two or three traps and then switch to the rifle. Generally, if they are stunned or rooted I have time to get the mind bleed on and then I alternate Warning Shot and Head Shot 2 until they're down. I'm able to solo Falumpsets and the occasional Fambaa using this technique - without my bot!
