Thread: Theory on Scout/Rangers and booting player cities off the tougher planets.

I heard a few days back that the Devs had decided that no architectural structures would be allowed on certain planets, Endor, Lok, etc.

I'm wondering if they're planning on putting more value into the Ranger (maybe even Scout) profession by making them a necessary element for hunting parties on those planets. Perhaps the Ranger camps will be small cities unto themselves where people can craft stims, powerups and... dare I say it... clone?

Suddenly, anyone that was looking to do some serious hunting would first have to ask themselves "Okay, where can we find a ranger to help us out?"

I post this here in the Scout forum because I know some of you are thinking of the Ranger line.

DeltaXi65, any thoughts?

J,

I know that the original intent of the Devs was to keep planets like Endor, Lok and Dathomir completely wild - it's been in a lot of the notes that those planets would be no build zones for buildings, etc. I was pretty surprised to come across them on Endor - the Zulus even had a PA hall set up there.

I think the intention was, as you said, to make those planets more inhospitable, and thus groups would be reliant on a Ranger or Scout to come along with them to make it more habitable.

Whatever the reason, it's great for us!

I like it, jmatt. Anything that make the Ranger a more valuable asset to the game is a very good thing.

I had read that as well. I find it unbelievable that they wanted them to remain uninhabited but did nothing that would prevent a player from erecting a structure. I mean, how do you forget to add that attribute to the code object? It baffles me, some of the bugs and design issues that were unresolved or unnoticed before release.

Did you read the post by the PA chief that was forced to relocate from one of those planets and lost a million credits of PA assets in the process? Apparently, he packed everything up, gave it to another player, deletedhis characterand all of the items were simply gone when they relogged in. That guy's got a serious right to complain.
