Thread: Would this work for trapping XP?
I jsut had a thought about a way to get lots of trapping XP off one MOB. I read about making each trap one can and throwing one of each at a MOB. Is it the Phenacine dart trap that basically renders a MOB motionless? Anyway, would it work to cycle the traps on a MOB to essentiallykeep it motionless so that, theoretically, one could simply continue to throw traps until running out of traps? Reason I ask is that I was getting 164 points per trapfrom Humbabas on Corellia, so tossing7 traps was getting me1148 XP. That kind of XP off one MOB is pretty nice. The downside is that even with expert level rifle skill armed with a laser rifle they con red to me, which means once they become mobile again I'm dead in relatively short order.
Would cycling traps to keep a MOB immobilized work?
Okay, that'll learn me to read other posts first. Seems it does indeed work.
"Oh, well, I dunno about the early trap levels, but when I got III, I'd snare a critter with Phecnacine dart, then let it have it with as many traps as I could, resnare it and repeat. It's handy that things don't aggro on an initial missed trap.

A even better trick is to go to dathomir and ask a baz nitch group with a CH if you can tag along and toss some traps. Then just craft about 50 glow juice traps and when the baz nitch gets on the CH's pet you just start tossing em. I've gotten over 10k exp on one mob. You get 465 per trap on a baz nitch, and glow juice, wire mesh, and glow wires can be thrown back to back (they don't add or change a state so they can stack fine). I got from ranger trapping 2 to ranger trapping 4 in 30 minutes. Thats 70,000 trapping exp. Now if I could only get the 80,000 more camping exp to hit master ranger.... You scouts think you have it bad! lol
Great GoogaMooga that's a lot of XP in a short time!
Might have get myself off world before too long. Thanks for the input.
Tark,
Before bots got the first nerf, I was running all of the Emperor's Retreat missions. I was at the very beginning of trapping three. I made up 5 sets of each trap and filled out my inventory.
Captain Thrawn (who is bare assed naked by the way) gave me a mission to take out a raging Fambaa. So I grabbed Lipton (Brisc - Lipton. Get it?) and went a hunting.
Lipton grabbed the attention of the Fambaa. I trapped.
Buy the time we took the thing down, Lipton was almost dead, and I had not only gained ALL of trapping III, but I was halfway through trapping IV. It was something like 15k worth of trapping, in half an hour.
So now you know whyI say trapping is a bit overpowered. ![]()
