Thread: Taxidermy perhaps?
I am a Master Marksman and a Master Scout (required for my novice BH) so I spend a lot of time hunting animals. I've made a decent amount of cash running missions and selling my hides so I bought a nice house on Tattooine. I like to think of my house as my hunting lodge or retreat. It's the place I go when I'm done with the hunt before I head back in to town. I have it all stocked up with nice furniture but there is something missing...
I'd like to propose the addition of some basic taxidermy skills for scouts. I admit I don't know much about how RL taxidermy works, but I think scouts should have the ability with crafting skills to mount the heads of their slain prey so they can be hung on the wall at your own lodge. This would exist purely for decorative purposes, pretty much the same as most furniture that architects make.
Basically you would need to be able to "loot" the head of the beast when you kill it. Scouts would be given a basic schematic (used in a general crafting tool) and would require an animal head, some wood (for the wall mount part), and perhaps some sort of chemical (to preserve it?). That's all there is to it, I don't think you need more than that. You don't need any experimentation or anything like that and you only need one generic schematic. The hard part I expect would be the graphics for the finished product and making sure that a head becomes a lootable item off animals.
I know it's a wild idea, but we scouts belong in the wild so it fits ![]()

I totally agree 100%. but why stop at heads?
With the skins, we should be able to make a whole body trophy.
I think our corrospondent should bring this up with the devs ![]()

This is a great idea!!!! Add this to my lists (the posts about throwing knives and digging holes) of things that will make Scouting come alive!
(By the way, I really think the scouting board has the most creative crowd - and very little flaming.... I'm really proud to be a part of this profession. Both in game and out of game!)

Nephele,
That's cause we're so frequently alone out in the field that any kind of human contact is welcome. We just like to see other people ![]()

I think that's a really cool idea! Can't wait to mount a Rancor head over my fireplace!!!
Sounds good, just don't make them growl whenever someone gets close (ala UO). They might run into clipping issues if they allow giant Rancors and such to be stuffed. Still, wonderful idea.
Also, it shouldn't be a "Scout" skill, but a Master Scout or Ranger Skill. I don't want to give everyone and their mother's brother another excuse to dabble in the Scout tree.

I agree. It should be limited to at least Master Scout.

I agree as well, it should definitely be a master scout skill. but not ranger... because I wasn't planning on going that route ![]()

Whoa ! This is a great idea !
My first char was a commando. He then bought a slitherhorn to heal his BF and fell in love with the Musican's Profession. He became Master Entertainer and Master Musician. He then decided to use the remaining skill pts to become a Scout. He loved it so much that he decided to become a Master Scout. However the Stat Migration process would have taken too long. Fortunately, 2 new Galaxies were opened.
I read my copy of Bisc Rubal's Guide and created a Bothan Scout. The Galaxy is still new so Mabari armour cannot be found yet and I have to pay for my training but I love this profession. I really do. I cannot understand why so many people complain. Granted there are some bugs but overall this is a great profession. There are only 2 bugs that I find really annoying: not being able to create waypoints at certain times and the bugged HAM bars... you get hit but nothing shows up on the HAM bar so you think you are still at full health... except you are not...
I also used to live on Tatooine and Corellia. After reading the Guide I decided that my char would live on Naboo. The planet is almost deserted but I love the place. I live in Keren and I haven't seen more than 4 players at any given time... but the Galaxy is still new ![]()
I do not know yet what I will be in the end but I think there ara way too many BH's at the moment. I love the idea of Scout Mission Terminals. And I think that the idea of the Taxidermy skill is great.
I also agree that this forum is the best I've visited so far... So much optimism is refreshing.

Mem,
It warms my heart to know what people out there are using my guide and it is working for them like it worked for me.
Either that, or I've got heartburn from the Gnort burgerI just ate. They taste like chicken!
