Thread: Hides shifting with other resources

Hello All.

I am working my way to Master Scout (two boxes away) and currently have a small hides and resources business. I have noticed that a group of creatures sometimes only give out 1 hide when I'm hunting (ie: a herd of Bantha's suddenly giving out 1 wooly). Does this indicate a resource shift? I know sometimes creatures are thin and scrawny, but this behaviour is usually tied to an entire herd/lair for the night. Also when this occurs, the meat on the animals seems correct. Sort of puzzling, but I thought someone might know.

This question has probably been posted before, so apologies for asking it again.

"I have noticed that a group of creatures sometimes only give out 1 hide when I'm hunting"

- If you find that ALL creatures that provide the same hide type are giving 1 hide, then yes it is because the hide resource on that planet has shifted.

- As you pointed out though, the "meatiness" of creatures is also dependent on the lair thatspawned them. Generally I just move onto another spawn if I locate such a lair.

- You can harvest one of the other resources fromcreatures giving you 1 hide though, and receive the correct number of resources (such as harvesting meat or bone).

Thanks for the reply NRaas.

Are shifts in hide and meat resources tied to planetary mined resource shifting (ie: ore, wheat, gas)? That would mean hides and meat change once a week (give or take) on any given planet. I don't think this is the case, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, it seems that if I'm harvestingan amount of 1hide from a certain type of creature, but I get the correct amount of meat that meat must have a different shift than hides. Is that correct? Perhaps hides shift one week and meat shifts another, thus keeping pace with planetary mined resource shifting. Stats on hides would be the same for two weeks as would stats on meat.

- All resources shift. The time period though is variable depending on the resource. Meaning when the resource is shifted in it is given a random period of time it will be available before being shifted out.

- Regular resources last between 5-12 days, so they will shift out on a varying schedule. This is the case with Hide/Meat/Bone resources as well, though their duration maybe longer.

"but I get the correct amount of meat that meat must have a different shift than hides. Is that correct?"

- That is correct.

Hides, meat and bones do not shift as often because they are not depleted as fast. (No harvestors that can produce 1000 resources an hour whether you are online or off.)

Otherwise they function exactly the same as other resources.
