The /con level is based on your combat level. The notes in the ingame holocron say something about it being based on the amount of damage you can do and blah, blah, blah, but I see no difference in the level whether I use a good pistol or a bad one. Ditto for rifle and carbine. (I am a Master Marksman, so they are all at the same level).

Like Kiaca said, the /con is based on your combat level.

You (as a scout/musician) have very limited combat abilities, and the fact that you aren't training any combat skills as you go along means that the difficulty of whatever you're fighting won't change at all.

Thanks for the anwsers. It's pretty much as I expected then. Since I won't be training combat professions the /con systems is twisted for me and I can't truly rely on it. With all my nice traps I propably can take on and survive even some of the lower level red con creatures.

I have a follow up guestion. Does my combat level show up somewhere and when I examine creature where does it's combat level show?

Then I have another guestion about traps ... basicly about Adhesive Mesh and it's root effect. Is it normal that the length of the root effect varies from instantly breaking to 10 - 15 sec lasting effect?

When you take a mission, look at the bottom where it says the dificulty level. This is basically your character level, combat-wise. I know it's not your actual "level", but it does give you a standing as too what/where/how you can fight critters.

Ileria,

There's no real way of determining your player level. The only way that we've really developed is to examine a creature that cons white to you, and you'll get a general idea of your level. Creature level is listed under "difficulty" in the examine screen.

Adhesive mesh has varying effectiveness based on your trapping skill and the creature level of the creature. The variation that you are seeing is normal.

Thanks for the anwsers again!

So I'm about combat level 5 (if I remember right).

My trapping skill is at the moment scouts trapping 4 and the variation I get is from same creature type.

For example I throw Adhesive Mesh at rill and is success. Rill is rooted to be freed 1 sec later. After I've killed the rill I target another rill and throw Adhesive Mesh. Success again (yes ... I'm on a row ) and rill is rooted. I keep shooting at it for 15 secs. I hit it's health and mind pools and miss couple times. After 15 sec the root breakes and rill is free, but I get lucky shot and hit it's action pool ... rill dies.

So in this case the variation comes from my trapping skill since the creature type is same and they both are same combat level 5. I think that stinks ... and I have little hope of keeping higher level creatures rooted since CL 5 can break root in 1 sec.

I'm posting this here since I see my character mainly scout.

I'm making a char that is going to be master scout with little bit of ranger, creature handler and musician. I'm now very close to master scout ... just need exploration 4 and survival 4. I've already gotten my musician skills I wanted.

I've been playing for 3 weeks now of which I've been hunting last 2 weeks. My main spot has been running around Bestine killing worrts and rills. During this time they haven't changed how they con to me. They are still very much white to me.

So my guestion is: Should creatures be changing their con as I advance or do they stay the same? If they do change con does it have something to do with combat professions (which I'm not planning to have)? And about character levels ... how can I tell what level I am or is there any levels at all?

If you think I'm asking silly guestions ... try to understand that so far I've been mainly playing DAoC which has level based advancement ... not skill based like in SWG ... and in DAoCmobs change con and become easier to kill as you advance.
