Thread: Camouflage Removed from Scout Line?
Logged in today and noticed my camouflage skill is gone.
I had Exploration 4 and Hunting 4 and a couple of clothing items with + Camo. Now nothing.
I also noticed that in the skill trees, Camouflage doesnt show up until tier 2 in the Ranger tree.
Is this correct or yet another bug?
As of this current patch Camouflage is now a new Ranger ability. Previously the Scout camoskill was used towards the Mask Scent ability. I haven't been on since the patch but I believe that now we get mask scent skill to count towards Mask Scent ability and Rangers get camo skill towards their Camo ability.
It should all be explained in the patch notes.
Gelaine,
Great answer! You've obviously been paying attention. ![]()
Good work.

Paying attention to what?
I reread the patch notes and there is mention about camouflage and how it works with conceal for Rangers but nothing about Scouts losing the skill or it not interacting with Mask Scent anymore.
I just love how people can be so quick to use the "RTFM" flame....
Vox,
This wasn't in the patch notes. It was in the Correspondent responses from the Devs that is stickied to the top of the forum and has been for over two weeks. ![]()
Maskscent was previously based on the "camo" modifier. Camo has been moved to Ranger and Maskscent is now based on the "maskscent" modifier.
Ranger's now get a "camo" modifier that is used with their new "/conceal" ability.
No one is telling you to RTMF - we're not like that here. I was basically trying to tell a newer player (with only 8 posts) for doing a good job of responding to a thread - he beat me to it and his answer was correct.
This isn't the CH forum. We're nice here. ![]()

Well, when we aren't suffering from monkey deprevation that is.

I feel I need to bring this up again. Perhaps the scout correspondent has some info here...
What is going to happen with the Bothan racial bonus to camoflage? I am a Bothan Master Doctor, and I have exploration forthe movement bonus, but also the mask scent that I used to receive a bonus to.
Now it seems that I would have to become a ranger to receive any benefit from this racial bonus?
I would prefer that the Bothan racial bonus be changed to Mask Scent. That way, many Bothans can benefit from it. That being said, I have seen no comment that states that this will happen, or that it will remain camoflage and is designed that way. As things stand now, it looks like one of those things that the developers never looked at, or saw as an issue, and it just got left camoflage cause nobody thought to look at it.
hehe. For some reason, this is really irking me. Please forgive me if you see me repost similar messages over the next few weeks, but I'd really like to know if its on oversight, or intended.
Right now, the Bothan Bonus is added to the Camo skill of the Ranger. Since Maskscent is now a different skill, the devs will have to give Bothans an additonal "Bonus Skill Mod." I think they should as well ![]()

Guys,
The last time I talked to the Scout dev, they were talking about giving Bothans a +5 maskscent mod and a +15 camo mod.
I don't know if this has been done, but he's on vacation, so I can't talk to him now - I'll find out if this is still going to happen.

Thanks Delta. At least I know that there is something in the works and it is not just an oversight.
Now... perhaps you could suggest to him the opposite. More bonus in Mask scent, and less in Camo. That way a wide variety of other professions that play Bothans could still have a decent bonus to a skill that does not require becoming a Ranger. I don't know about you all, but +5 doesn't seem significant to me, wheras +15 or even +10 might be at least a little noticable.
Either way, thanks for the response. Please let us know if you hear more.
