Thread: Trapping bug

I have ran into the same bug quite a few times already. I throw a trap, and it does nothing. I don't get any success or failure message and the trap is wasted.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Songe,

All the time with the Ranger traps. Which traps were you using? I don't recall having this experience with the scout traps, but the Ranger traps are hit or miss (pun intended).

With scout traps, and it seems to be random, not linked to one specifical trap.

Its happend to me a few times...my best guess is its just really bad momentary lag that just confuses the game.

Anyone else seeing trapping bugs? This just started happening to me today.

1. I throw a sonic trap or a wire mesh trap and the animal moves slowly toward me for a few seconds like I hit him with a p-dart. On the area traps, only the animal I targeted moves slowly. All other animals I annoyed come at me at normal speed, they're just stunned and dizzy.

2. I double click the trap in my inventory like I always do and I end up throwing two traps.

Lag maybe? Never seen that one myself. Why don't you hot key your traps? That should make itso that you only throw one trap per click.

I am not sure wether at least this slowing-bug has anything to do with the traps.

I experienced this effect yesterday in Tatooine, I was hunting lizards. My strategy was to mask scent, approach to 60m and start the fight from a prone position with my rifle conceal shot. Everything was normal, until the lizards wandering around came next to some Nunas that were standing close to the lair. In the moment the lizard noticed the Nuna, it turned towards me and charged.

Besides the fact that using conceal shot and being masked should not let the mob aggro, it still did so. Most amazing was thatthey approached with some weird speed like if they were snared... moving slowly, then a bit quicker, then slow again etc. This happened with basically every Lizardmob I was shooting there, the Nunas made them aggro on me (no idea for what reason), and then this weird movement.

It was definitely no lag, at least I did not notice any other delays in my actions.

I've noticed creatures moving slowly in a couple of circumstances:
1. The one you just mentioned, which I saw for the first time last night - the creature being aggroed by another creature, causing you to become magically visible to them, and them to become strangely slow. (I was using conceal shot/maskscent too)
2. Sometimes when they return after a warningshot they move at a walking pace.

As a rifleman, I think this is very considerate of them.

For the concealshot agro, it happens if the creature agros anything. You just happened to do the most damage so it went after you. Just be glad a giant dune kimogila didn't decide to get a 1 point health bleed on it when you were /concealshot killing it. That hurts.

This is warningshot working as intended. This is also why I don't drop this line and get medic again.

/concealshot sometimes causes a very minor (1pt) bleed, when this bleed kicks in the creature will aggro you even when camoed or maskscented. Some creatures (and NPCs, like the dark jedi on dathomir) tend to get a VERY strange movement when they aggro you because of that bleed (you can safely continue killing the dark jedi for example, he is SO slow that he won't be any danger ...).

JimmyGreendox,

I've also experienced your #2 bug (I posted about it in the Scout forums yesterday, actually). I have my traps in my quickbar, but sometimes when I click on them I toss 2 in a row, rather than just one. I think hitting "clear" on your combat queue after the first trap gets tossed might help alleviate the problem, but I'm having trouble reproducing it consistently.

Is it actually throwing two traps? I know that I sometimes get a "throw trap" ghost in my combat queue that doesn't actually throw a trap. It just happens to show up more than once.
