Thread: Thinking about master scout but a few questions

I am TKM/CH and I have left over skill points. Now due to the fact that you need exploration 1-4 and hunting 1-4 for CH I thought that it may be worth it to finish out scouting since I already have 1/2 of it completed. This is where my dilema starts...using the points for some med skills or using them to finish up scouting. If I master scouting it leaves me with enough xp for nov medic and first aid 1. What benefits are there for being master scout? I know that trapping 1-4 really helps with fighting but do I really need the survival part of it? I believe I will do the trapping 1-4 no matter what but really need help with deciding on the last points. Should I go master scout or put the extra skill points to medic? Any pro's and con's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Well, it mainly depends on what you're going to be doing with it. If you're going to be harvesting organics, then master scout will be helpful. The bonuses to mask scent are VERY helpful at master scout, especially since you're a CH. As a TKM, you won't really need trapping, since you can mow down almost anything that isn't kinetic resistant, it's helpful but not really needed. Survival is an "Ehhh.." line, you might need it, but you might not, it all depends on your playstyle.

Honestly, since you have the skill points, go ahead and try out master scout. That's the beauty of this game, you can be anything you want, and if you dont like it, you can drop it.

From a points perspective, you can go with TKM, Master CH, Master Scout, and Novice Medic with 3 points left over. If you're looking to increase your harvesting modifier, you could go with Tracking 3 in Ranger instead of Novice Medic and have no points left over. Then again, Novice Medic is always a good thing to have.

I shouldn't do this, but I would say that going up the first aid and pharmacology trees is probably better than getting Master Scout. You've already got the two most important Scout trees, and unless your goal is to be out there making money off of hunting (which it probably isn't, as TK/CH isn't exactlya hunting template) getting Master Scout doesn't really give you that much of a benefit.

Medic, on the other hand, is going to save your butt, and going up first aid and pharm means you can use higher med-use stims and they'll heal better.

I am just confused why you have medic with TK at all.

At best you would need novice medic to use stim b's for combat healing on the fly. Everything else you can meditate away.

All about bang for the buck. He'll get more outta the stim bs with a higher first aid.

And there's a lot of stuff out there that'll chew up a TK, especially if he's PvPing.

Ohhhhh.

I figure 450 per heal is enough. I rarely PvP anyhow. I let creatures eat my enemies while I sit maskscented eating Jelly Bellies.

personally, I think stim B's do good for combat healing... I have 1000 flat HAM, and healing about 3-400 of it does me a nice shot.

go with nov medic. like JB said, meditate will work between mobs, and the Stim B's will be good for an emergency. just look around on your server for ones that are REALLY good. you won't use them that often, so invest in some good ones.

I would have to agree with the part about 'what do you want to do?' As a MCH and Master at a combat prof you can have enough points to do quite a bit. However, what do you want to do? With Master Scout, you get:

  • Burst Run Efficiency +50
  • Mask Scent+50
  • Camping +50
  • Creature Harvesting +50
  • Creature Knowledge +50
  • Creature To-Hit Bonus +10
  • Foraging +50
  • Terrain Negotiation +50
  • Trapping +50

  • Iam a MCH/Master Scout/Master Pistoleer (working on Rifles)/0/0/3/0 Ranger. I have not used the traps since I made MS, they might be neat, but I just don't use them, maybe I should. Burst run, I used to laugh at, now I realize how nice it is, like when a NS elder decides to start wailing on you. Mask Scent, very nice for avoiding useless encounters. Harvesting and Knowledge, very nice. It has made me a wealthy person. Foraging, for those times when your pet is feeling 'hungry.'

Let's face it, most of us go outbuffed and armored, orwe carry food to help us. Synthsteak ring a bell, amoung others? I would not worry about healing, as with a decentweapon and pet, you should be fine. Wounds are the biggest headache. As a TK, you meditate those away.

The amount of credits you can earn harvesting is pretty good, that is really something to look into. When Naboo avian was going for 170 CPU, and with all those harvesting bonuses, and Veghash, and a 113 harvey droid, it just doesn't get any better.

I also had some medic, then I came to the realisation that I should just leave it up the Pros in the medcen. When you have 1600+ in wounds, is it really worth the time to sit there and heal yourself? It can be alot easier to go to CNET medcen stand there and say 'WOUNDS FOR FREE' watch how fast they jump on healing your wounds, and for their time, tip them a little. In less then five minutes you are fully healed and back in action to roll. But, again, being a TK, you don't have to worry about that. You can meditate it away.
