Thread: Real crazy suggestion possibly for the CURB

I was thinking (first problem)
Scouts and rangers are hunters, but there are no weapon skills that come with scout other than trapping.
What if there were some special weapons for scout/rangers only? Just the weapons, no special attacks unless you had the profession to go with it. Something like a RUK265 hunting rifle/pistol/carbine, or a hunting knife) Prehaps even unique weapons like a crossbow like device (not the wookie bowcaster). Basically so that a scout with hunting skills could use a weapon more advanced than a CDEF.
Again this is just the weapon cert. If you want to use the specials associated with the weapon class you have to pick up the profession. Just something to make the Class a little more interesting.

This idea is so crazy that it was suggested about 100 times since the start of the game. After much discussion, it was more or less decided that at Novice Ranger -not Scout, as it is "a basic profession" - a cert would be given for a bow.
Search the Ranger forum and there are like 50 threads about this.
One of the best things about Scout is you are not restricted on what weapons to use, you can pick what you want and change whenever you want. Yes, you start out on the CDEF or with a knife, but them's the breaks. As you get better in your chosen weapons class, you get better weapons and specials. I would rather get choices than be pigeon-holed into a certain weapon class because I picked Scout.
And while traps are not weapons, they sure are a combat multiplier. A CDEF and some traps means you can take on some creatures that others with better weapons can't.

And the bow was shot down because some people are ranged and some are melee. And it was also shot down for Ranger not truly being a combat class. Then it degrads into a discussion of what Ranger is supposed to be and things about getting a ranger hat and its ignored.

It's ok talon, I'm just glad you learned this lesson now rather than outin that harsh, cold world that exists beyond the Scout Forum.

Ahem... the bow was not shot down. It was going to be available to Rangers, regardless of ranged/melee status. Not unlike traps.
Fact is, the latest incarnation had the bow cert at novice, with the Ranger getting the materials to make it but it was only craftable by a AS. The arrows would be tied into camping - bringing a bit of usefulness to the camping line. The arrows would mirror our traps, and then some, with mo' better effects and states.
Not dead. This is a hill I am planning to die for. Harvesting already got semi-unganked so I have been spared that battle.

Ohyeah, no way would this make the CURB as they figure Rangers/Scouts are non-combat.
I still say in any one day I cause more HAM damage than any PvP stacker in existance. And here I am, non-combat.
Oh well, let me take my non-combat butt out and get more Dant wool for 50cpu and Naboo insect for 40cpu and then go read how the death of solo groups is killing the stackers. Poor freaking boo boo heads.
