Honestly, trap everything. Throw 2 or 3 traps at em.... it'll all add up.

I thought I read something about the Lost City of Durbin recently for this purpose ... it's a good place to find Sludge Panthers, and you might be able to get out of reach, I'm not sure...

I am confused.
I use traps constantly. No, not on durnis or butterflies, tho I have, but on anything that cons white I trap. Why? It makes the creature easier to kill.
Spend 5 minutes making traps and you have a lot of traps. Toss them and you max out traps well before you max out both lines that require scout xp.
Twice I maxed traps out first - Scout and Ranger.
And I can max traps out in less than an hour now for FS xp, except the exchange rate is so bad I rarely bother to trade the xp in unless other things are maxed also.
BTW, ancient rancors give 2k per trap. Enranged Kimos give 2k per trap.

I got more than half of ranger trapping-4 in under 5 mintues on an ancient bull rancor lair. The hard part was getting more than one trap off before the group had it killed

Traps that don't cause states can be thrown over and over at same target you get xp each time.
