Can you warning shot banthas and bull rontos on tatooine? I read that a good scouting tactic was to maskscent yourself, bleed shot a big creature, hit it with a regular shot, then warning shot it and click peace. They should run away and bleed to death. (though you might have to put on an additional bleed shot. Can this be done on the BIG creatures? Or do they ignore the warning shot?

Also, if you bleed shot a large creature then hit it with a regular shot, then leave it alone, and it dies, do you get full weapon xp?

To me this is very 'scout' like. Knowing enough about the creature that you can bleed it, that you're savvy enough to mask your scent so they can't find you and then scare it off with a good shot. Watch it die and then harvest away! This to me is very much more in character with the class, asa marksman would just take the thing head on or do the whole 'kiting' thing.

How do you bleed shot? Is it a rifle or pistol thing? I am going out on a limb here and saying that you cannot warning shot a large creature, but I will certainly try it tonight. Please let me know about the bleed shot thing, I want to try and use that!

You get a specialist shot that causes bleeding when you reach specialist in any one of the three ranged weapons. I use pistol for my bleeding shots, which cause the red health bar to go down on it's own. They stop bleeding after awhile though, so you have to put another one on it. But this way, if your maskscent works, you'd be getting xp for weapon, combat xp with extra coming from maskscent, and huge harvests...

It's always funny (okay, it's not so funny, actually) to get incapped by a red and watch them die slowly while you recover. Mwuuhahahahahhaaa!

Okay so I don't need to become a Bounty Hunter for bleedshot? I was under the impression that I needed to train in that for the skill. I am a hair away from becoming a pistol specialist so I will get this skill??

Yep... you'll definitely get the shot at pistol specialist. It's called health shot1. You only need to do it once, then body shot after that.

Anyways, if anyone can do a quick trial for me and see if the BIG creatures run from warning shot, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'll have to wait until late tonight (I'm at work, ugh)

Thanks guys,

You will get Healthshot1, which is not as good as bleeding shot, but does cause some bleeding. It is very slow, so don't depend on it to kill anything, but like I said, throw a couple in amidst all those bodyshots to soften the target up.

Mule,

Actually, that would defeat the purpose of this whole thread. As the idea is to keep them away from you and not shoot them while they bleed to death. Haven't noticed a problem using health shot1 and the bleeding though. What is the bleed shot that you're talking about?

Danke! I will probably go into pistoleer after that so I will get health shot 2 at some point.

I am pretty sure that warning shot success is based on the mobs Ferocity level. I have been tryign to test it out but do not have any really good solid metrics yet. As for bleeding, Rifle Spec's mind shot combined with a few head shots seems to take down White and Yellow pretty good (with MaskScent in place that is)

I guess my hope was to find a nice big ronto that shows difficulty of red, and use my scout skills to their fullest to outwit the animal. Hide from it, make it bleed then leave it alone to die. I'm still hoping someone tries this out, but if not, I'll try it tonight!

My main exp exp using Warningshot was against Corellian Humbaba's (Challenge 17 /4000hp). With Level 4 Pistol and a Scout Blaster (roughly 40-80 damage, 2.8 delay) I found I had to keep alternating Warning Shot and Bodyshot2to keep the critters moving so that I had to rely on my pair of Swamp Gurrcats to do the majority of the damage. The Warningshot effect just doesn't seem to last very long.

That said it might be a smart strategy to have a group with one player tasked to do nothing but Warningshots to keep the critter moving while the rest of the group killed it.

To help Warningshot be more effective you'll want to hit the critters with Stink Bomb's (which lower the resistance to state effects like Warningshot so it will be resisted fewer times) and P. Darts to slow it enough that it doesn't keep running out of range.

Of course that's just a theory so don't try it on anything too far from a cloning centrethe first time out.

Well I tried it guys... I went up to a herd of rontos, I did healthshot1, hit it with a bodyshot2, then warningshot. The warning shot worked every single time I did it. I didn't even bother to keep shooting, Here's what I did:

Healthshot1 (the ronto starts to come after me)

Bodyshot2 (to make sure I get xp)

Warningshot (the ronto ran the other way)

Clicked Peace and stopped attacking

Watched his health go down - then when the bleeding stopped, I just repeated the 4 steps above.

never took damage, was good harvesting and xp. Slower than kiting 10 squalls mind you. But I haven't bothered to shuttle all over the galaxy just to find some animals to kill either. The next thing I'll do is the above steps on each ronto of the herd and see if I can just bleed them all out and get the xp for all of them.

Anyone know if a probot goes in and tanks if you get the xp for it?
