You need to leave the city first (that's about 1km radius from each city) than go about another 1 km and you can camp out there. You need to make sure you aren't around any other built up areas though. Basically, about 2 km from a city.

And by the way. If you are to close to a imperial outpost or some other structure in the wilderness you can not build either. especially if you can't see the structure.

WEll maybe Im in the minority here.... but maskscent doesnt seem to be giving me that much problem and I use it all the time. I cant prove it but it seems to have a better chance of working against a creature than it did. or something....

as far as creature handlers... I can understand the usefullness of not having a timer..but I think they are trying to slow down the speed at which you guys are getting creatures... face it ... you shouldnt be able to get a great creature without alot of time... you shouldnt just be able to run it...hit maskscent, if it doesnt work run out and do it again.

Maybe I dont understand the problem since im not going for CH, but When I saw some dude running around with a RANCOR in tatooine less that 1 month into the game..I was like....hmmm thats a bit sudden (and a little lame to see IMHO).

Dlebold, I think you are in the wrong thread, bro.... lol

The first time I had a problem with the no-building zone, it took me 15+ minutes to find a spot I was "allowed" to build. It was 2700m outside of Theed. Hahah. It's kinda dumb you aren't allowed to start a campfire anywhere you would like out in the wilderness.

I don't have a problem with a 'no building' area - I'd really hate to see stuff just jumbled all on top of each other, ala UO and the housing crisis. What I DO have a problem with is not knowing what the problem actually IS. Am I still too close to the city? Is there a structure in the area that I just can't see yet? Either added messaging to clarify what the problem actually is or perhaps even visual cues - like a red WP arrow to show me the direction to the structure that's causin the trouble. That way we can head in the opposite direction and hopefully find a camping spot quicker.

I'd prefer to see a no building area and a no camping area.

We should be able to camp closer to cities. As these player built communities build up we are going to have to go further and further out from the cities.

Have a no building area where structures can't go up but camping is allowed.

If for whatever reason camping isnt allowed then havea no camping area.

I had many problems with the No-building zone message too. From my experimentation, here is the run down.

1. As you walk out of a city, it will eventually give you a message, "you are leaving %city name%". 1000 meters beyond THAT point is when you can build camps or other structures like houses or harvesters.

2. The ground must be somehwat flat and level. You cant build a camp on a hill, or on really uneven ground. An example is the Crystal Swamp on Corillia, it's difficicult to find a flat spot to camp.

3. You can build to close to In Game structures, such as bases, and caves.

Hope this helps.

I have no trouble building on the side of a hill. It just morphs in a flat area and places the campsite.

Other then near a city, there doesn't seem to be an obvious rule to where you can camp. On Talus I don't have problem putting a camp down. On Tatoonie it seemed I could never find a spot. Maybe because there is only two cities on Talus...

ive been playing this game for 3 weeks now, and STILL i have trouble finding build areas. im NO WHERE NEAR a city. no where near a structure. and its not on a hill.

i was walking from dee'ja peak to theed before. i was roughly halfway between, in a fairly open section of grass. it was perfectly flat (although ive built on hills before and it flatens it for you). no buildings around. and i could NOT find a place to set up. i tried walking in all 4 directions, stopping every few meters to try and still nothing.

this is such a big problem for us, why cant they look into a fix?

Been playing SWG from the start and I don't have problems with the "no-build" zone at all. I don't expect thetowns expandingso much that there's no moreroom to build a camp. And what's the hassle of taking a minute walk away from the city?

As for RhyKnow, are you sure you are at least 1000m away from a city or an outpost?Check yourplanetary map and move your cursor on the city you're nearest to. If it's over 1000and your still having the "no-build" zone then it's most likely a bug.

On Talus, I've found I have no problems building a camp right next to a river (as long as its outside the 1000m thing). Works like a charm.

Also, some cities have a MUCH MUCH larger no-build zone around them than others. Don't expect every city to follow the 1000m rule.
