I will post this here and in Scout forum. This idea I think could be started with Hunting 4 and improved upon in Ranger.

The Artisens have survey devices letting them know where a good sample of XXX is. Well I think Scouts/Rangers need to have some way of finding out either what has or where to go to find what has certain types of Hide/Bone/Meat. We wouldn't need a device (maybe) but at least a /skill to do this. That way Mr. Artisen/Armorsmith/Tailor/Chef who needs say, wooly hide can ask and I can go find some instead of running around examining creatures to find out what hide they will have. In stead (because Master Scouts and Rangers are Masters of the Environment) I can say ok let me go kill some DDDD's and I will have it for you soon.

Please let me know what you think.

Why don't you just remember which creatures give wooly hide and such?

I have to agree with above poster: Isn't it a better part of your role to remember (waypoints) where certain spawns are so you can hunt them again yourself? Good hunting is knowing where the game is.

Yes you are correct, but game moves. And because I cannot follow in game creatures migration (waypoint is only good if the same mob is always there), I think at a high enough skill there should be a means of "tracking" these creatures.

I've found a few spots where creatures reliably spawn, even weeks later. They are not always postively guaranteed, but they are commonly stocked with the same creatures. I see what you mean, that would make a scouts life easier, but I don't know that it needs to be much easier.

p.s. When I break camp, I'll have survival IV!!! Woohooo!

If you know what creature gives what you want, just walk over to a mission terminal and get a destroy mission for that creature. Instant waypoint to where there's a safe bet you'll find the creature you want.

Not all creatures are in the mission terminals

Examine a creature and it will tell you what kinda hide and meat it gives.

I know you can Examine a creature. But lets say I find a nice place to hunt, ohh Tortons (I'm on Rori). And after a while I need to return to the city (sell stuff, buy stuff, meet a friend). about 75% of the time the mob no longer spawns there. I'm not talking places near by a city either. If in RL I had the skills that are mentioned in the Hunting tree, I could predict (or at least find) where the animal would be next. That is what I am thinking. I want to hunt a specific animal and when it moves I want to move.
