Thread: first nerf of the game and it has to be on us!!
Dancer4Hire
R.I.P and long live the now dead scouts
with a name like dancer for hire i'd figure that you'd be a...well entertainer, not a scout...but anyways.
While I think that dropping the entire proffession of scout is a bit drastic, i do have to admit that this is kind of painful to see the devs ninja nerfing scouts in this way. Without even a small post on the forums, they have nerfed the scout profession to , as the dancer above me posted, rely on harvesting to get worthwhile exp.
So back to the fighting and accusations that come with trying to harvest while in a group....or the fun of exp grinding picking off smaller animals slowly over time.
YAY!
It makes me sick to think that the scout can no longer scout and do what everyone thought the profession was for.
I have never once bitched about this game until now...do your research before going out and f'ing us over SOE.
SOE: Sucking Off Elephants.
Thanks for making the scout such an exploration class...can't wait to harvest ten billion creatures.
Like a previous poster said, nerf the XP...not the ability. It's not the XP we loved the skill for.

First of all, this isn't the first nerf. Berzerk for melee comes to mind...
Second, get over it. We clearly had it nice and now they took it away because it was too easy. Face it. what is the point of having a toggle for /maskscent if you can just turn it on everytime it fails? It is more of a skill that is to be used when necessary now. Move on, you will be OK. the mask scent XP is WAY overrated anyway. I acquired Master Scout in less than a week on harvesting.
It isn't impossible... it is now how it should be... Anybody who is less than Novice Ranger should not have an easy time wandering around on the advanced planets. Plain and simple. Now with this fix there is a larger gap between scout and ranger.
And yes, I played a lot in the first week to accomplish that but I am a special case. Quite frankly, I don't think I should have been able to do it so quickly. I think they need to make the professions even more difficult to advance in.
Oh yeah, like I said earlier. Maskscent XP is blown WAY out of proportion. Once you get explor IV and above you get NO xp for it. It has never, and will never, substitute for hunting.
I recall some Devs saying that some minor balancing was going to be done after release. Is any online game really balanced to perfection? I have yet to reach Ranger status and I am in no hurry to get there. I want to enjoy the game, not the xp grind. I hoep that everyone who is reacting to this "nerf" will seeit for what it is, balancing. Not our opinion of game balancing, but the Dev's opinion. You know, the ones who made the game. I know it is made after a movie, but it is still the idea of the Devs as to what is right and what is excessive.
Anyway, enough rambling. Anyone know where to get wooly hides from on Naboo?
I understand that you dont want to get mad xp for just running balls to the wind on hostile planets.
But they shouldnt have nerfed the skill but the xp... not being able to put mask scent up again will have further reaching consequences than xp. I would rather get no xp for successfuly sneaking by then haveing to wait one min for the ability to use my skill again.
Take for instance CH. How will novice CH be able to tame a creature? From whatI understand Mask Scent is Essential to successfuly taming creatures. Waiting one full min before being able re-mask scentso that you canapproach your target is going to become near unbearable. Especially given the high failure rates of CH. It would certainly be in the best intrest of a CH not to get scout xp and be able to use his skill asoften as needed.
anyrate thats my 2 cents.
Well, a CH shouldn't have an easy time getting into a mob and taming a creature... Plain and simple. How realistic is it to go into a mob, get detected, then somehow make yourself invisible again?
Worrying about getting caught should be part of being a CH... and when you were able to constantly reapply this was hardly a concern.
