It was always iffy when I did this in beta. If the server crashes, you do not get the xp. And there was some mention of rollbacks, so it is possible that occurred to you.
If you use /logout, your avatar disappears from the world when your client exits the game, so the camp is not really necessary. Using /quit or the game menu does leave your avatar in the game for a few minutes, however.

In beta I was able to log out in a camp and upon logging back in I saw I had received the xp for the time it was up. Yesterday I had a basic camp up well over 10 min.and did a /logout in it. Later when I logged back in I found I had received no xp for it (I made a point of looking at my xp total to check if I'd get xp). Can anyone else confirm this? This might be a rollback issue, I'm unsure. But if it's been changed I don't understand; one of the benefits of a camp is the ability to log out safely in a dangerous area. I would think I'd still get xp for it.
