I chose to be a scout over artisan, because I thought there would be alot of artisans & I could do my part to help spread the proffesions. Boy was I wrong. Seems like 75% of the population are scouts on Talus at least. "Star Wars Galaxies of Scouts" anyone?

What's so good about scouting over other proffesions in your opinions?

I might switch to Doc, since the medical center is usually barren of anyone that can heal.

Scout skills are required for two very popular advanced professions: Creature Handler and Bounty Hunter. Add to that the people heading for Ranger, and those who just want the movement bonuses of Exploration, and those who want camping and harvesting skills to supplement their Artisan surveying and crafting, and you end up with a lot of Scouts in the game.

Scouts are like the supplement profession. I think every other class can do well combined with scouts, even the entertainer, who can just sit back and make the camps so he can do his thing in the field. Also, you talk about making a medic? You might want to think of also becoming a... (guess what?) scout! Medics need some resources that only scouts can get without having to look for it at the Bazaar.

Anyways, with a profession as versatile as this one is, I'm amazed that there aren't even more scouts out there.

That's funny-I noticed in some of the polls that scouting was low in interest but there seem to be plenty.

Polls can be a bit misleading depending on what they ask. For example, I consider myself a scout yet when I answered a poll about what profession I would START with I answered artisan. That is so I could get the survey tools to sample and get resources. Of course the first thing I did when I actually made a character was go to the trainers and train in both novice scout and novice marksman....
