Thread: Did Anything Get Broken?

Reading thru some of the other forums and professions it seems that the latest patch broke some things.

How did we fare?

I did a little playtesting this morning and found nothing Scout-specific. Anyone find anything or were we lucky enough to come thru unscathed?

You mean did anything not get broken?

Actually, mask scent going down once you initiate combat totally blows. This IS NOT a bug but a new "feature".

I actually agree with that feature tho.

Why wouldn't it break once you initiate combat? You've given your position away.

As a former real life hunter (got tired of the culture of "lets all git t'gether and kill sump'm") I can tell you that when you fire your weapon, whether it is a rifle or bow, your "Maskscent" is broken. The animals know where you are. Its not an outrageous or unrealistic change.

Dya,

It's not a "bug" or a "feature". It's a "bug fix". According to GreenMarine, that is how the system was originally intended to work. Whether or not you agree with it, I can't dispute it - he wrote the system, after all.

I haven't played yet with the new patch--Lowca was broken last night when I tried to get on--but this one concerns me a little:

"Missions on advanced planets will now scale correctly based on character level. "

Does that mean I won't be able to get high-level, high-payout missions on Endor any more? I hope not. I just am getting my scout to the point where he doesn't get killed every 5 minutes on advanced planets. It certainly won't be worth the 9K round-trip ticket plus cloning costto pick up level 12 missions that only pay 1200 credits. I can stay on Correllia for that.

Maddo,

From what I understand, it's just fixing the problem with some characters getting missions that are way too low (in payout and difficulty) on the higher end planets. I don't think it'll kill the Jinda missions.

But this is something we'll need to try out and see.

Nothing that I could see was broken, but I only had a few minutes when Sunrunner was up yesterday, and that is a low-level character I don't play often.

I can tell you that when you fire your weapon, whether it is a rifle or bow, your "Maskscent" is broken.

With a bow yes, however you are generally at a range of 10-15 meters where sound and motion are very easy to detect.

With a rifle I hold that it is situational. There have been many times that the surviving animals had no clue where I was or even what happened. Often they went back to grazing after a few seconds of scanning the area.

Granted most of these times would have been from a range of 60 meters or more. Further it could be argued that maskscent holding is silly when you're effectively firing an automatic weapon non-stop for thirty seconds. What needs to be taken into consideration though is that this game doesn't let us shoot from realistic ranges and creatures don't die in 1-2 shots due to technical and systematic issues.

From what I understand, it's just fixing the problem with some characters getting missions that are way too low

No, it is fixing the "issue" where people were getting missions too high. You'll be getting ones on the same order that you would on a starter planet (10 or so for Novice advanced combat professions).

Where did you get that from? Is that your analysis, or did I miss something?

Well, it's my analysis of how the patch notes read and this is backed by the fact that now the highest mission levels on any planet are around 25 for masters of elite combat professions.

Sei,

Point well taken. I'll see what we can do about that. I was told that there was still going to be the chance to get a mission above your level.
