Thread: Just made Master Scout! Now begins the journey to Master Ranger!
Personally, I think you need an elite combat profession, either ranged or melee, to be an effective Ranger.
CH relies too much on your pets doing the work, while you watch. What if you get a critter that evades the pets, aggros on you, and all you have is the Marksman line to rely on.Ranger lunchable. A lot of Rangers are CHs, but have combat skills to help them.
Master Marksman in and of itself is useless. I feel you waste a lot of points on weapons you seldom use,and on the ranged support line that has one decent shot. Pick your favorite weapon and specialize in it. You will save skill points as you can drop at least two lines (the weapons you don't like). Mastering a ranged or melee weapon is much better than being a mere Master Marksman. I was one, dropped it, went Pistoleer and never looked back.
Also, read in the Ranger forums tricks to get one critter to aggro using certain shots. Only works in the elite levels, Master Marksmen are SOL on this tactic. Sadly, so are the melee crowd.
As to Medic, get pharm 1. Stim Bs are wonderful and heal much faster and better than stim As.
That being said, do what you want to do, but have fun doing it. Dabble at things, and find out what works for you. If you don't like doing A, do B, or E, but the main reason is that you enjoy what you are doing and have fun doing it. Talk to other Rangers in the game, and on the forums.
Good Luck
JB
I just got my 4/4/4/4 in Scout and now 1/2 way to fill-up that Master Scout block. I'll be on later sending out "Will train for free" messages. Hope to hit Master tonight.
I'll also be on the Ranger path.
I do have novice CH and pistoleer and both come in very handy.
Good Hunting!
Yedda,
Congratulations! Welcome to the Master Scout club.
Well, Craig's out back working on the BBQ pit, so that's underway. YOU get the fun task of making the spit. You'll need some wood, and some rope, and some other crafting type crap, but don't even THINK about taking it from the basement resource locker. I'm saving that stuff for some uber fishing poles. Go look around out back. I think there may be a tree or two we didn't cut down for the barn.
Ranger is still my favorite profession. I miss it a lot, now that Brisc dropped it for Squad Leader. Good luck on the grind and check out my Ranger guide!
