Thread: Wilderness Survival I-IV
First off, let me say that I am not a fan of this "Sit in a camp for so and so time and wait for it to disband" macro. I’ve been a Master Bounty Hunter (Yes, when "WE" had to master scout), Master Ranger, and Master Scout many times over my length of playing and I’ve never used the camp macro while afk thing.
Now, lets get down to basics.
Requirements:
- 3 Generic Crafting Kits
- Approximately 60k Hide and Bone, (Not sure on this, just guessing really, I use many stacks of different hide and bone because I hunt for a living)
- Patience.
The Method.
- Set up a camp, wherever you like.
- Get your grinding macro out and put it on practice mode.
- While sitting in your camp, just practice - craft camps.
Using this method, you can get from I to IV in about two hours. Plus you can do something really amazing and stay at the computer WHILE the game is running.
In addition to the wonderful payoffs mentioned above, you can actually roleplay while your at it.
Or chat for you people who think "Rpers are lame".
Anyway, this is a incredibly fast way of getting to survival IV and gets it out of the way without having to macro unattended, thus violating the rules.
Notes:
- Die Hard Macro Fanatics will probably flame me and you for using this.
- The above mentioned Die Hard Macro Fanatics will be AFK, long after you hit survival IV
That’s all for now,

I dont want to seem like flaming, but I see too many guides like this that come from vetrans and oversimplify the hurdels that new players have to go over. That being XP, and Credits. or are you willing to donate 120k to every new player so they can grind XP?
and please, i do not mean to be a troll or seem like flaming, I am just asking an honest question that is based on my flustrations of less then useful guides

oh, i like to know as a starting play how I am going ot get the 60k hide and 60k bone. at 1 cpu that is 120k credits. Seems to me that this is like explaining how to get the moon, by telling people to first get a Rocket that can get to the moom.

That's why you've got my two guides stickied at the top of the forum.

Kinnison75, thank you for your positive feedback.
In regard to your question about how to obtain the required hides and bone for the "grinding" of camps, I’ll share with you the easiest way I do it when I start on a new server.
Requirements:
Skills: Novice Scout; Novice Brawler and/or Marksman
Credits: Zero. You can actually make credits doing this.
Equipment: Depending on your chose profession, you will have started out with everything you need. Also, your Helper Droid can assist you in getting a new weapon, if you start a brawler or marksman profession.
The Method:
Believe it or not, getting "Starting Professions" going is extremely easy. Even easier now that you have a helper droid and can do missions for money, exp and credits, right from the droid.
For completely beginning players, here’s what I suggest.
Spend some of your starting money on a shuttle port out of Mos Eisley, to Mos Espa. It does not cost a lot and you start out with the funds anyway, choose Mos Espa Shuttleport West.
As soon as you get there, type /find trainer:scout. That will lead you to the scout trainer, (additionally, you can type /find trainer:marksman or trainer:brawler if you’ve chosen to start with the scout profession), spend what will be most of if not the rest of your starting credits on your skills and then proceed out of the town. *
What you want to do is find the YELLOW dots on your radar and go kill them. I suggest you stick with Lesser Womp Rats, Rills, Worrits (the various types) and the occasional Rock Mite. Mound Mites will all swarm on you if your not careful, so watch what your doing with them.
In all honesty, if you’re a marksman this is going to be much easier, just change your posture to prone, fire off a few "Over charged shot" and go harvest off of the corpse. Brawlers (trust me on this, I’m a 3 time Teras Kasi Master) who need to get up in there are going to have it alittle more difficult but it’s not that much harder.
Doing this, you can collect as much hides and bones as you need, WHILE you are gaining combat professions and scouting for Exploration and Hunting. Trapping is also easy if you want to go up that line as well, just use some of your previously harvested materials to make the traps. I’m not sure, but I think you may even start out with a generic crafting kit, from your helper droid.
Notes:
* Your droid will probably pop out, if he’s not already out, and tell you that you’ve chosen a new profession and ask you if you want help, just click through the windows and tell the droid what weapon you want to start with.
You wont have to spend any credits on this, aside from training at a NPC if there are no players around to teach you the skills you’ve learned. You can also make credits by doing this, by A) doing missions or B) harvesting specific hides, bones or meat from the local wildlife. Believe it or not, even those starting mobs can have some extremely high quality resources on them, just depending on the resource shift.
Once again, I would like to thank Kinnison75 for asking his questions. That’s what we are here for.
If you want, I can also write up more guides and answer any questions you have about other professions. (Not the technical questions, like Broken Skills and that sort, leave that to the professionals)
As always, thank you for reading.
Respectfully,
Hatrius Vulgas,

im thinking of grabbing about 4-6 newbs, and paying them to go out on a camping trip with me. each gets a camp that I place, and has to stay for 15 minutes until i give them 2.5k credits. then while we wait i can make more camps, and if they want to, they can do it again. should be able to burn thru wilderness IV in about an hour or less this way.
Or.
'Grab' 4 - 6 novice scouts from around Mos Eisley. Day Oners. So fresh they've still got creases in their pants. Form a hunt group. Go get one of the lower level missions from the mission terms. Should get stuff close, under 500m, not too big a prey either. OK, so the pay won't be great but it is XP you are after here, not coin.
Head out to the first mission, drop a camp, craft a replacement. With a group the camp will hit its max XP pretty quick. You might find the first few you do you over or under estimate on the time, but you'll get the right level for your group size.
Do the mission, drop a camp, everyone heal up. You did take novice medic? You can make stims? Cool! You're nearly self sufficient, a ranger you will be. /wink
And, then, as the saying goes, rinse wash and repeat.
You might want, depending on group dynamic and size to have 'turns' at dropping camps, or to have more than one person dropping camps. Remember, you can leave camp briefly, run to the next one and back without yours going phut.
That old camp XP soon rolls in. You're also harvesting the hide and bone from the prey, doens't matter about quality, its quantity you need just now, and your gaining scout XP from doing that. Keep that /maskscent going all the time too.
Oh yeah, and you'll want to be chucking traps as you go. Same resources for them as for camps.
Worst happens, you have a bit of fun, make some good contacts and earn a bit of xp. Remember that group members can teach each other, so rather than ALL running back to town and paying the NPC, get one member trianed, he trains two, they train two and so on. Hey, you'r gaining even MORE xp, Apprenticeship Points this time!
It's all good!
