Thread: Trapping XP Questions
Ok i have every scout skill ......except trapping 2 and above. Is it just me otr is trapping pretty much useless?
I have to get trapping xp for master but everytime i throw traps at a small creature i get like 25xp for it and if i throw it at big creatures it never works.
Im just wondering if there is a trick to this or should i just grind it and throw every trap at every chuba i see?
Thx for the advice in advance.
MAY THE FLAME BE WITH YOU
Depends on the trap. They get more useful as you go up the tree. Also you may not notice but you get way more Combat XP when you kill a critter after throwing a successful trap than when you just kill it with a weapon. Kill a worrt straight up and you get like 60 weapon XP and 6 Combat Xp. Kill after using one or more traps and you get a much reduced weapon XP, but a good 42 Trap XP per trap and 40 or so Combat XP.
Bigger creatures give much more trapping XP. I get 271 to 400+ per trap on monsters on Dantooine, plus you can throw multiple types of traps, each which give XP. On those big critters I can throw 4 or 5 different traps, and even at the lowest XP of 271, that is a minumum of 1084 Trapping XP from one creature.
If you are Rebel on Dantooine this is extremely easy since all of the Rebel NPCs help you when you attack or are attacked by a monster. Just disarm yourself so you don't shoot and draw more agro, and just follow the monster around as it goes after the NPCs that are blasting it and chunk traps. As the effects wear off, throw another of that type. The NPCs take forever to wear down the beast, and in that time you can end up throwing 10 or more traps. Plus as long as you did some damage to the monster you can also harvest it.

Vera,
You've already found the trick.
Make a single batch of every single trap that you can make. Put them all in your quickbar.
Everytime you take out a creature, throw ALL of your traps at them first. Then kill it. Keep doing it.
I believe that what I am seeing with people who have trouble getting their trapping XP up is that they are only using wire mesh or bone spur - the traps that require the lowest amount of resources to make. They only throw that trap, and they are getting multiple failures on the bigger critters.
Don't do that - you'll end up wasting more resources than you conserve. Make one of EACH TYPE, and throw them. The odds are that even up against a high level creature, you'll hit at least 75%.
It took me over a month anda half to reach Master Ranger. Within that time, it took me two days to reach Trap Master. That's how I did it. Every trap I could make at high level creatures.
