Thread: Something a bit off base with Harvesting...

Thinking logically, a scout should be able to harvest all three types of resources from any single critter. Not that I expect people to go out, skin a deer, extract meat, bone, and hide from it perfectly without any waste of material, or anything like that. But there should be a happy medium, in my mind. I understand that there are game balance issues, but it's not impossible to work with.

For example, we could go with some sort of "Harvest All" feature in which there is a partner setting that the player must configure. Ie, he sets Hide, Meat, Bone as Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary extraction resources (in that order). Then, upon /harvest all, the scout would get specific percentages of each type. Something like this: 50/30/15/5%. Where the total would be the actual number that one would recieve if they chose to extract only one resource type. The 5% would signify a quantity loss, and unrecoverable material.

Or, perhaps we could go with a more dynamic system where each resource type has to be extracted in a certain order as pertaining to logic: Hide first, Meat second, and Bone third. Each attempt would yield a certain percentage of the full (say, 80%), but have a failure rate in which all resources of the one type is unrecoverable. As in, out of a total of 50 hides per resource type, I was able to get 46 Hides, 45 Meat, and no Bone, as indicative of a critical failure on the last attempt.

I dunno if I've been clear, or concise or anything, as it's a long, long day at work.

Crazy,

I get what you are saying.

I'm just not sure what the difference would be between harvesting three creatures with the "harvest all" function and harvesting three creatures and selection bone for one, hide for another and meat for the third. Same outcome.

And you can always set up a macro to help speed the process along.

It's an interesting idea, but something tells me that the devs aren't going to spend a heck of a lot of time coding "shortcuts" for us when there's tons of other stuff to do.
