I am a Master Scout from Tarq who just recently started an Artisan profession as well (chef) and have picked up some nice tricks for making credits. I figured I would pass on a few of the tactics I have come up with for making money by being a scout...

- Mineral Surveying is your friend. Lots of Artisans have severely lacking Scout/marksman skills, and as a result, rarely travel far from town to look for resources. But you as a Scout are unafraid of long travel, and can make an easy credit off this ability! take novice Artisan and work your way up the tree to survey II or so. Then find out from the local Expert weaponsmiths what minerals they consider rare or hard to find. Now run off into the wilds at least 2.5k from town (few artisans will travel this far) and do your scout thing:comb the area scouting for that mineral. It might take awhile, but when you find it, /sample the snot out of it! When you get 1k or more, contact the weaponsmiths and see thier reaction when you tell them you have a thousand of the rarest resource on the planet. I have sold a stack of Titanium Aluminum (before it became plentiful) for 10k credits this way.

- Speaking of picking up Artisan... If you do the above and start up your own mineral-scouting business, be aware how the newArtisan Missions work. Basically, the missions run from 500 to 1800 credits, and involve finding a survey 'hotspot'. All you have to do is head out and find a resource that matches or excedes the concentration it lists, and it dumps the credits into your bank. These are perfect for when you are heading out to do something else anyhow. Kill two Jawa with one stone I always say.

- Not all bone / hide / meat is created equal. Artisans look for a variety of different qualities in a sample... Examining a hide in your inventory, you will see what I mean. Some may have high Shock Resistance, and others might have high Heat Resistance. And then there is also the Overall Quality. The higher that number, the higher the chance that the item crafted will be a better success, and thus have more experimenting points to use. Anyhow, the point is, check the harvested resources from time to time. If you find a particular critter (say Womp Rats for example) that have a high quality resource, get lots of them! When you have enough to sell (say 500 or so) don't be afraid to charge appropriatly for the quality. The Bazaar is usually full of low-quality junk that never sells. The moment you put up a 500 stack of 970 quality Scaley Hides, it will sell faster than a speeding blaster-bolt.

- Try getting a contract with a local Doctor. These guys are ALWAYS on the lookout for Avian meat,Herbivore meat, and various high quality hides. Explain to the Doctor that you will sell exclusively to him/her, and will provide X amount of hides daily/weekly for a set rate. You would be surprised how excited they get at this proposal! I personally have a deal with a doctor that provides me with 5 cred per Herbivore meat (600 quality or better) and all the Stim D's I can carry.

- Whenever you have an idle moment(such as waiting for a shuttle) use your /forage skill. Most of the fruits and berries you get are of limited use... However, there issome tasty morselsthatyou can make some cash off of easily selling at the Bazaar.Flur'de Onions (or whatever they are called, I forget the spelling off hand) for example have a +500 Mind bonus and a 1000 second duration.I sell them for 200 a pop, and never fail to unload them before the day is out. Yeah I know... you are saying '200 isn't very much', and you are right. But if you put 10 of them up for auction every day you play, and they sell every day, thats 2k credits easy cashola (minus Bazaar fees of course). Take it from me: It adds up quick.

Well, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Doing all that hasn't made me fabulously wealthy, but it has certainly kept me from being poor. Good luck Scouts!
