Thread: Scout Grinding

Presently my scout is 2-0-2-1. I am heading towards creature handler. I want to make the most of the double xp so what are some good things to grind to get Scout XP? I presently have a CL of 5 from Marksmen/Rifles. I have been harvesting lvl 1/4 mobs at this point rather than 5 to minimize my down time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you can find some people to group with, you might want to try grouping - if nothing else, it will generally let you kill things at or above your level (or the group level) with less damage and less downtime, which means you'll be able to harvest for XP faster.

For getting scout XP, harvest harvest harvest. That's the best way, and at a CL of 5, you're probably smart to stick with taking out things that are probably level 2-4. You'll be able to take them down fairly quickly, with minimal damage to yourself, and won't see too large a penalty on XP when harvesting a creature slightly below your level. I'm in the process of leveling up a new Scout (and eventual Ranger) myself, I think he's somewhere around CL6 or so now, and I find I can quickly take down a bunch of level 1-5 creatures without too much damage, and get in the neighborhood of 130-180XP per harvest (something like that). Just keep doing that until the noob stuff around the cities starts to con gray to you completely, then you might want to look at pulling some missions to get more appropriately leveled creatures. I definitely recommend grouping tho, if you can find some people to group with. The hunting will go faster and you'll be able to get XP faster (if not in greater numbers).

Harvest, harvest and Harvest

Find someone grinding out weapons, preferable several someones. Get with them and together take down the biggest stuff you can possibly take on. You get weapons, combat and scout XP, all on one kill. A win/win/win. As your weapons levels get higher, take on bigger stuff. If it moves, and you can kill it, do so and harvest. While we are on that subject, trap trap and trap some more. If you don't toss 3 traps at each creature, you are slacking.

(spoiler, there is a POI on Talus - go there and if you have prepared wisely, you can max traps in an hour. Hint - Lost city, now do the search for previous posts on this)

Just be careful up there, the critters are behaving a bit differently since CU.

Also, you may consider heading to Dantooine Mining Outpost, even with a relatively new character. Youwill find hunting groups that are willing to take your new character in. Just be sure to have an idea of what Novice boxes you will need for your future template before heading there. You'll get not alot of XPs, but PHAT XPs (a whole d**n lot).

While out there, you'll have experienced players in your group to teach you.

Also, even as the new character in the group, all you need is ONE hit on something to get the XPs. For Scouting purposes in the group hunt, concentrate on getting a box or two in the Hunting line at least (or all of hunting if you intend to master or go to a relevant Scout based profession). What ever the group kills, get to work and start harvesting. With increased Hunting skills, you will harvest more and get more Scout XPs as a result.

Scout is much easier to do nowadays compared to in the past. The Survival line was mindnumbing back then

P.S.- If you're intent on going to Ranger or getting the Trapping line, the group will greatly appreciate good use of traps to aid in the hunt. You may not hit hard with your Novice Marksman or Brawler skills, but good traps are underused on today's hunts at Dantooine. Just have a good idea of what traps do what and when to use them. You should be able to reap good Scout XPs from that.
