Thread: How in the world do I catch a FISH!!!!!!!!!!
I catch fish all the time and never use small reel. I just randomly pick one of the tugs until I get the 'CAUGHT SOMETHING' message. One more click and just sit back and see what happens, sometimes you reel in nothing, fish gets off, or you catch a fish. As for Wilderness XP you can gain it by setting up camp and then camping. The longer you camp, I belive up to 30 min, the more XP you gain. The max is something like 400 for small camp and 600 for multi.
Hope this helps.
On bite I tug up to sink the hook.
Then I wait while the fish is reeled in.
You only do one command per state change. You can see the next command to be executed in the fishing window (I think it says "next command").
Does anyone know is there is any way to catch bigger fish? Does bait type or fishing pole quality play any sort of part? How about initial casting distance? Can that be affected? How about finding good locations to fish?
This is a repost of my fishing tips:
Pole Quality does make a difference. I can often catch four or five fish on 2 pieces of bait with my 94.0 quality rod.
- Five star fishing is good.
- Five star vegetation is annoying. (One star vegetation is annoying. Although it is possible higher vegetation gives bigger fish. I find it too annoying to test.)
Lantyss's Secret Fishing Tricks:
1) Try to keep your line in the 4-6 meter range. The further out your line is, the more likely you will lose the fish upon reeling it in. Too close and you are more likely to stop fishing. Tugging reduces your range, so give yourself some slack.
2) Upon a nibble, tug in a direction. Any direction. This usually produces a +Bite+.
3) Upon a bite, tug again. If you fail, repeat (2) then tug in a *different* direction for this step. One direction is the magic tug, so as long as your bait holds out, you will hook the fish.
4) If your "pole flexes hard and the line goes taut" simply tug. You have an "amazing success" and any direction should hook the fish.
5) Likewise there are critical failures. There is nothing you can do about fish stealing your bait.
6) Your bait condition (Fresh, Soggy, Mush, Stop) seems to hold over to reeling in. The fresher your bait is upon hooking the fish, the longer you can play it out. Not that you have much control over this, but that is why you want to hook the fish as early as possible using (2), (3) and (4). If your bait runs out while fighting, your fish gets away.
Thanks for the help, the part that I didnt realize was that you had to keep tugging until it said you caught something. I thought that on bite you had a fish on your line and you had to reel it in, so I never got the caught something message. My bad, but honestly I think they could have this a little bit clearer in the holocron or something. Anyway, thanks again.
