Thread: a great idea for master scouts
i think the cots in your camp, you should like be able to sleep in them to heal your battle fatigue, instead of having to go to cantina, but leave cantina as an option.
just a thought, alot of people spend time on planets, that have no dancers there and must spend a fortune to find one, i know i do, i would like to see this option
The healing of battle fatigue is the primary purpose of an entertainer in the game and what makes them invaluable. The requirement that they need to be in the city's cantina to do it increases the social interactivity of the game within cities and allows for the casual player to find an entertainer easily.
Going to one of the more remote towns and having severe battle fatigue (like, say, near Wayfar in Tatooine), it really is terrible not to find an entertainer. They would become rarer if the "in a cantina" requirement was removed.
Master,
There's a whole heck of a lot of angst over the issue of BF healing in camps over on the Ranger boards.
While I can see the point, the Devs have made it quite clear that they want the Cantinas and Hotels to be the only place you can heal BF.

This idea will probably appeal to few, but something I've thought for about a week now....
Why can't entertainers create recordings? I was in Coronet the other night and listened to probably the best band I have heard in a cantina in the game so far (though I don't remember their name...). They were actually very good and it wasn't the same darn flourish and segment over and over and over and over. Why can't there be a functionality whereby they can create "recordings" and players can purchase those from the bands. Those recordings could only be used in camps to heal BF and mind wounds. The healing should probably come at a rate slower than in a cantina (maybe an equation tied to the "quality" of the music which is tied to the experience of the musician who made it). Maybe a 25% or 50% rate...
Of course there will have to be something to prevent illegal file sharing of those music files or else the RIAA may come and try to sue our PA halls out from under us ;-)

Errr.... Entertainers can clear up your Bat Fat in homes, as well as cantinas and hotels. As long as the venue is public, they're in. Haven't tried it in a private residence, though.
I had an entertainer stop by a new home/store on Tat, as I was helping a friend set up shop (she loves my interior decorating, apparently). He pulled something like a grand piano out of his pocket, and started to put on a show. Out of curiousity, I watched/listened, and watched my BatFat drop at a remarkable rate. In about 1 minute all the brain damage was healed for me, as well as for my friend, and for a couple random strangers that stopped by (I asked).
Needless to say, my friend is thinking that she should start hiring entertainers to come by on a regular basis. *grin* Way less lag that way.
Darix,
Very interesting idea. Maybe the music composers would receive XP and/or credits as royalties everytime the recording is played to heal BF. Doubt it will happen, but not a bad idea.

There have been extensive threads about battle fatigue and an entertainers role on the entertainer's boards.
Master Dancers/Musicians would like to be more useful to you in the field, they really would. The proposition has been made several times to allow Master Dancers/Musicians the ability to heal battle fatigue in camps. No such luck.
I'm not sure there's ever been an outright refusal, but the DEVs seem pretty entrenched in their "chain 'em to the cantina" idea, for fear that no one will use the cantinas. What they fail to realize, is that most of the masters don't anyway. They got tired of being ignored for groups, or worse, ridiculed, and picked up a combat skill so they couldenjoy the game's content which is otherwise inaccessible to them. Cantinasin a lot of places are just ghost towns, so their tactics are failing.
Raise a stink, maybe the devs will see the light. Trust me, the entertainer's will love you for it. And both sides will benefit.

Dumb question time:
You can heal battle fatigue in a hotel? How? I didn't realize that hotels served any purpose other than housing slot machines...
Chris
BF can be cleared in a private residence.
I too have had to pick up the Slitherhorn for lack of entertainers in remote venues. Entertaining is fun sometimes, but I could use the points elsewhere.
