So I was fighting a huf dun bull last night (jumped in to help a guy who was having problems) and decided that I didn't want to steal all of his exp so I threw an Adhesive Mesh to root the mob. It stuck and the "+Rooted+" popped out of the huf dun and I started to back off but it followed me at full speed like nothing had happened. Contrarily, when I throw an Adhesive Mesh to pull a mob it'll stand stone still for 20-30 secs until the root wears off.

Higher level, more powerful, creatures break the trap effect faster than lower level creatures do. My experience is that it does work fine in the middle of the battle but, for obvious reasons, I too prefer to hit them with an AM trap early to get the upper hand in the fight quickly.

It's been my experience that traps put you high on the agro list of creatures. I have had my TK friend pounda couple thousand points out of something, and I throw a couple traps at it, and it turns on me. Who needs rescue, just through a ranger trap. Same, even if you run out of the creatures normal "keep chasing you" range, if it still has a trap effect on it, it will keep chasing you.
