Thread: Losing Survival Exp?
I've seen a couple of people complain about this and wanted know if others are seeing the same.
The people this has happened to report that, they make a camp, sit in it for a while (30.. 40 minutes) and then when they disband they lose Survival Xp points. One person even said that when he looked at camp status window it showed a -1 vistor.
If this is true, is it a bug or something the Dev's put in?
I tried to investigate in that case: There's definitly something fishy here. I couldn't reproduce the loss of XP (fortunately I should say - camping is a pain in the...) but I couldn't reproduce the gain of XPs either: *exactly* the same spot, the same uptime in one log-in-session -> different XPs, ranging from 120 to 600-odd... First time I had the camp up though I was answering my mail an was involved in guild-chat (approx. 600 XPs), I disbanded and set a new camp: Now I crafted some traps and new camps and foraged (approx. 240 XPs, timeframe was the same), after that I disbanded, erected a new camp, switched /afk and took a real-life-shower - even more uptime than in the first two instances: 120 XPs. Is it possible that the measure to gain XPs is no longer the time the camp is occupied but a keyclick-counter?
Mille,
I don't think that keystrokes have anything to do with it.
I think we need more info on this - what kind of camps you guys are using, etc.

I use a Multiperson-Camp-Kit but have never had any issues with it. Up to now I have almost exclusivly camped on Corellia - I lost my XP when I camped on Naboo (vicinity of Kaadara) for the first time and I tested camping-XPs on Tatooine (near Mos Entha). I didn't notice any other player to have passed my camp (which of course would affect the gaining-rate). Unfortunately I have changed more than one parameter when I first noticed the inconsistency in XP (resp. their loss): I not only relocated from Corellia to Naboo (and later on Tatooine) but I took also the chance to learn Novice-CH since I had gained the XPs (I'd rather have the survival-XPs though *sigh*) and I got myself a probot as well (though it has been stored). On Tatooine I could not resist to test the CH-skills and tamed a baby-Cu Pa and an baby-Bantha. The former had been called during all three camping-sessions (I made sure *not* to alter any other parameters than just mailing and chatting first, foraging and crafting second and hitting /afk third).
I want to elaborate that the keystrokes-hyothesis is just an assumption of mine as it seems to be the most obvious (I realise however that the most obvious is most certainly not the culprit *g*).
Do you need more information regarding my PC-background? I have the following skills so far:
Novice-Artisan 1/1/0/0
Novice-Brawler 1/0/0/0
Novice-Marksman 4/4/4/4
Novice-Medic 0/0/0/0
Scout 4/2/4/3
Novice-Creature-Handler 0/0/0/0

OK, I figured you need something you can work with and did another test-series:
Tatooine, 2312 2951, multiperson-camps
16:09:50 entered first camp
16:10:05 called cu pa-baby-pet
16:17:59 disband camp
350 Points
16:18:13 entered second camp
16:26:23 camp disbanded
324 Points
16:27:05 entered third camp
16:35:19 camp disbanded
243 Points
16:35:53 entered fourth camp
16:36:36 crafted multiperson-camp-kit
16:37:32 crafted multiperson-camp-kit
16:38:06 crafted multiperson-camp-kit
16:38:43 crafted multiperson-camp-kit
16:39:21 crafted multiperson-camp-kit
16:39:36 forage
16:39:46 forage failure
16:40:06 forage
16:40:16 forage success
16:40:44 forage
16:40:54 inventory full
feed pet
feed pet
feed pet
sorry, hit enter by mistake:
continues after having fed pet three times:
16:42:17 forage
16:42:26 forage fail
16:42:36 forage
16:42:46 forage fail
16:43:04 forage
16:43:14 forage success
16:43:39 forage
16:43:48 forage fail
16:44:10 disband camp
162 Points
OK, I admit: My keystroke-theory was wrong - sounds ratherlike the more camps you throw the less XP you get...
And BTW I didn't use a single macro: Neither for crafting, nor for foraging.
If you need further information do not hesitate to request it.

A few days ago, I had to surrender all my ranger skills to pursue CH. A few minutes after surrendering the skills I ran past a lair with maskscent on. When the creatures tried and failed to detect me, I received the survival XP message, however I was awarded -10000 points of survival XP, instead of the normal 100 or so.
I just assumed this was directly related to my surrender, and the fact that I had more XP than the rules would normally allow me to accrue above my current level.
Still, it was quite shocking to see.

From what I've seen the exp awarded for a camp is based on a few things. Maximum is set by the "size" of the camp. IE a small camp really doesnt make much more than 300ish, a multi about 600ish etc. The actual amount awarded deals with the amount that the camp is actually "used". If you are down on HAM when you arrive and use the healing bonus you seem to earn much more exp. than if you are healthy and sit in one. This seems to always make it that the first camp give more exp than the subsequent ones.
Good exp comes from lots of wounded people sitting around, or a medic healing some wounds and or damage in your camp. That pushes it to maximum in very little time.
If anyone can help verify this post. It is what I have seen, but there may be other hidden things in the calculation.

Here is something to perhaps further lighten this up: I have noticed that you are awared full survival XPs if you fight in the time between setting up two camps. Even though I didn't receive any wound (killing just low-level critters) or BF I received the same amount of XPs. Now this seems to make sense: it would be a good way to counter the grinding macro or grinding survival-XPs per se...

i can prove your theory: Get novice Medic
Go out some where type /tendd;/pause 6;/tendd;/pause 6;/tendd;/pause 6;/tendd;/pause 6;/tendd;/pause 6;
wait till your done drop a camp sit for 10mins, keep using /tendd when ever you have a chance.
eventually you will have 999 battle fatigue and a stat of 1 for focus and willpower, just sit, keep using /tendd, and every 10mins on the clock disband your camp and redrop it, and your preatty much able to triple the speed at which it takes to max your xp alone.
Please know that you will max out, at 15mins, though the curve between 10-15 mins is smaler than the curve from 0-9:59, ex at 10mins you get roughly 500 survial xp alone for a multi person camp kit at survival III, at 10:01-15:00 you get a WOPPING additional 105 xp, using this method i made my last 20k survival xp alone, idleing over the course of 6 hours, instead of 18
