Thread: How I, a novice scout, soloed giant peko peko
not to analyze to much but if you can use mind shot then your not really a novice markesmen and i doubt that a novice scout can't tell if the creature can deathblow or not.
so before you say novice something make sure you don't contridict it with saying you have an abilityfor a fourth lvl skill. just for future note..
mapiachew: alot of jobs
At the time, I was, I think, 4/2/3/2 in the scout tree (maybe 4/2/4/2) and 4/3/2/3 in the marksman tree. Doesn't that make me still a novice?
You get mindshot at rifle 4.
"Just, curious, but what kind of rifle XP where you getting after the rebels would take down that peko peko for you? How long did this take you?"
I was getting around1K ofrifle XP per bird. It's not like I backed off and let the rebs do all the work, though. I kept hitting him whilethey were fighting. It took about a minute per creature after I initiated combat, maybe a little longer.
The other day, I was wandering aroung Naboo looking for stuff to hunt. I came across some giant peko peko, which are huge bird-like creatures. Now, I am just a novice scout and marksman, so they conned red for me. They are CL 22 creatures, I later found out, and way out of my league. But I was feeling pretty cocky, since I just soloed my first falumpasets (CL 12). Also, I noticed that giant peko peko don't deathblow, so I figured the worst that can happen is that I rest for a minute or two. I jogged to 60 m awayso I was at the ideal range for my laser rifle, went proneand opened up with a mindshot and headshot.
Well, this giant bird flies right for me, mad as hell, and starts biting huge chunks out of my health pool. I get up and start running away. As it turns out, I was running right in the direction of a group of NPC rebel troopers who were milling arond near a creek bed. (I'm neutral, so rebel troopers don't bother with me.) To my surprise and relief, as soon as the giant peko peko gets close to these rebs, they all open up on him. He stops attacking me and starts giving it backto the rebs. My new rebel friends and I fight this guy for what seems like a good minute or so until he finally drops. I harvest the resources from the bird and end up with piles of weapon, combat, scouting and trappingXP, as well as a big load of meat. Unfortunately, a couple of the rebs didn't make it, but new ones spawned right away.
I ended up kiting at least a half dozen giant peko peko over to my fellowrebel hunters, and together, we took them all out. It was pretty cool. After a while, the spawn point for the peko peko moved, and it was too far away from the rebs for me to get the birds to them without getting incapped.
So the next time you're by yourself and youwant to try your hand at a MOB that's way out of your league, try luring him over to some NPC combat types and hope that they help you out.

Yeah, thats a known tactic for lower level chars. Just, curious, but what kind of rifle XP where you getting after the rebels would take down that peko peko for you? How long did this take you? Once you're master marksmen and master scout, with some real tactics (mask scent, traps, bleeding, etc), you should be able to solo one of those for real.
I was doing a similar thing the other night on Corellia. What are those nastier bageraset-things... himurabas? I've truely soloed them before, but the other night I found a lair of them right over the hill from a big lair of some kind of non-aggro cats. It was actually by chance that I discovered the cats - while kiting my target, I happened to run through the cats and, low and behold, the whole pack took on my target. It was kind of neat to see the pack swarming the big beast.
I took the opportunity to go after some trapping XP. I'd lure each himurabab (sp?) into the cats, then while the cats kept him in place, I'd just start lobbing trap after trap. Since each of these things was pretty big (for a 3,3,3,3 Scout with Pistol 3), I was getting some big-time trapping XP. Good stuff. And fun too. I ended up taking out the whole nest, although how all those guys fit into that dead log, I'll never know. ![]()

This is one of my favorite tactics. I solo lots of Imperial mobs like this right outside of Moenia. It's a relatively common thing for fallen AT-ATs to spawn with mobs of strong troopers around them. Of course the forests around Moenia are also littered with Gungans, who I happen to be quite friendly with. Whenever I find a group of troopers fighting gungans I jump right in the fray. Great XP, loot, and data discs if you're lookin for them.
Congrats,

You're talking about the green biker scouts, right? Aren't those plasma thieves? I was fighting with the gungans against these guys and would loose plasma thief faction points for killing them. Plus, at the time, I wasn't yet in the Alliance so I wouldn't think I would have been able to attack true Imperials. I know what camp you're talking about (we're on the same server) and they have the broken walker and Imperial symbols. I just found it odd that they don't have the imp symbol over their head and I loose plasma thief faction points for killing them. Reguardless, that was some fun fighting, along side the Gungans. I had a lot of fun doing that one night.
