Thread: Maskscent problems and surrendered scout skills? This may be part of the problem.
My maskscent is very, very broken. Everything breaks it, and normally from 100 meters out or so. Even low ferocity creatures break it at great distances. I have been in groups with many others and thier maskscent works just fine. We run past a group and only my maskscent breaks. I have quit using it because of this.
Now, the other day I was grouped with someone that has the same problem I do. We both put up mask and it broke when every we got within 100 meters of something. We started comparing notes, and both of us surrendered Master scout AFTER the last patch. Devs could this be part of the problem? That surrendering the skill and having our Mask scent numbers changed could have bugged our check values?
It seems that I have about a 90% chance of being detected. I have tested this against pretty much everything. Even CL7-10 creature break my mask at between 80-100 meters almost every time. It does seem to matter if it is a durni or a rancor, if I get within 100 meters it breaks and I am attacked.
I just wanted to see if the others that are having this constant breakage of mask also surrendered any scout/ranger skills. It would not be the first time that surrendering a higher level of a skill broke that skill.

There are a lot of changes to maskscent in the next patch, and they all appear to be working.
If you are still having these issues after that, let me know and I'll pass them on.

Ok will do, I did a few experiments last night again.
This was on Dathomir.
Mask broke on various creatures at 100+ meters. I was walking with radar at 128 meters, creatures at the edge of radar in the direction I am travelling. I was attacked. Target window had no info in it, like it does when the attacker is way out of range. (3 times 100% failure rate, attacked 3 times)
I tried engaging mask at 110 meters, then gowing prone and crawling in. It broke at between 60 and 90 meters. (6 tries 100% failure rate, attacked 5 times)
Mask broke if I approached to within 60 meters (outside of normal aggro range) and then engaged mask. It broke immediatly. (6 tries 100% failure rate, attacked 6 times)
I engaged mask 15 times last night. It broke every time I approaced a lair. 100% failure rate for the night. The testing was limitedby having to wait for burst run to reset. Since I was attacked every time but once, having burst run ready was manditory.
Needless to say this is having a huge effect on my taming of aggressive creatures.

I know. We've been round and round about Mask Scent here.
There are fixes ready to go on TC right now that have done wonders in fixing this problem - at least in my initial testing.
All I can say for now is to be careful, and that help is on the way.
