Camping exp was easy to get , and yet they keep the traps line and require you to get "trap experience". Too bad trapping seems to be bugged for about 75% of any and all situations. I cannot level up in ranger b/c I will out CL the critters I will need to stick traps on if they ever fix this. I cannot grind traps as a novice ranger b/c apparenetly adhesive traps are broken, and at CL 40 (novice ranger with nothing else at all) i grey out any other critters that any of my othe rtraps would stick to.

So do I level up the othe r3 lines, and pray they fix it later. Full well knowing that I will have to drop everything I learn in ranger back down to novice once the ydo fix traps ?

or

Do I twiddle my thumbs ?

Ugh, had a big detailed reply written out then thoguht I'd better pop ingame and just check something.

Okay, at Master Scout/Novice Ranger you will have a Trapping Level of 50.

iirc, Master Scout/Novice Ranger, with NO combat profs, gives a CL of ~26. Master Ranger, no combat profs, CL60. (Compared to a MCH/MDoc at CL54).

You should expect to successfully stick the majority of traps on creatures up to your TL.

You will get full XP for combat with creatures up to your CL.

Master Scout/Novice Ranger with 4000 Rifleman + NovBH, CL30. Easily getting trap XP off mission spawns, could get more if grouped with a CL50 player to raise CL to same as trapping level.

So the answer would appear to be, in your case anyway, to hammer trapping to keep your TL higher or very close to your CL.

You made a poor choice. If you had trapped as you progressed up the other trees, you would have maxed trapping out by now.

Trapping is one tree with it's own XP. The other 3 trees share scout xp. If you multiple trap on hunts, you get as much trap xp as scout. Your weapons xp goes down when you trap, but that is a trade off. Also it tends to keep your CL in line with your trap level.

Waiting until last to do trapping, when you already are above CL 40 is not a smart move.

But, to your original question. Making Scout xp count towards trapping means you can become a Master Ranger without leaving the immediate area of Mos Eisley. It was bad enough that Camping XP, which was not that bad and enforced grouping for quick XP, was zapped. Deleting trap xp would make the title Master Scout lessmeaningful than it is now.

Of course, we can petition the Devs to just grant the title when you take the profession, making it really easy to Master.

I am not asking for free titles or badges , ranger and scout should be something you work for.

Trapping is busted , look at the forums and read...trapping is busted. I am simply asking why did the ytake camping away (by making it generic harvesting exp) and not do the same for traps ?

Kinda hard to level up a skill tree WHEN IT IS BROKE!!!!

Trapping ain't broke. It is bugged. And if you are waiting for a fix, you will grow old and gray - we never get fixes.

Drop some CLs and then power trap some beasties. Group with someone who has p darts already. Let them snare the creature. No shooting. You toss your traps. You will get full xp for killing the creature, except it is all trap xp. You should be getting a ton of trap xp. Yes this method works, I did it on TC and on a new toon for this purpose in a test. The trick is not getting too far ahead in CL. Then you harvest and get scout xp. No weapons xp, but as trap levels go up, you can do that along with, at the expense of some trap xp.

How this works - each creature grants a set number of xp. If you trap and use a weapon, it is split. One or the other grants full share xp.

I agree, this sucks having to drop some CL. But this is a viable and not too painful workaround that lets you get trap levels.

And you end up with a ton of resources to make the traps. And as most low level traps don't take a lot - you make money selling the surplus.
