Thread: Are we all dumb-dumbs? Traps...

Hit me last night, I did the first three tiers of trapping awhile ago. How, you may ask? Well, I'm a smuggler and can buy faction points. I then turned those faction points into XP.

Go run some faction missions, and you can easily get to box 3 (+20 from box three, with a +20 bot, anda +20ish dweezel should helpA LOT of you folks out!

Don't even bother going for the 70,000 XP for the 4thbox (even as a smuggler, it would cost me 28,000,000 creds!!!.) I think you would go insane running the missions (besides, only a week until pub 20)

Still, this may help some people on 'the fringe', so long as factioneers can still buy skills.

Just my 2 creds.

Hope I've helped.

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that. Oh wait! I did!

I was trying to offer some help. If you don't want it, don't take it. Some folks might want this information.

While there have been MANY posts about traps, I don't remember hearing anyone give up this idea. I also didn't see anything during a search. If you could point me to one that explains this, please do. Yes, there may be a "half million posts," but they have nothing to do with this solution. Did you even ready the post?

Or you could check that a feature is still ingame before presenting it as a solution to current issues.

FP:XP went away 'some time ago', iirc with the GCW revamp, and is not available as an option either for combatant or spec forces.

(Caveat, it may still be avaialable to smugglers, but as I don't play a smugger toon I don't feel qualified to comment on that)

You're right, according to this thread:

It went *poof* (literally) some time in January. No patch notes. No dev response. Just *poof*.

Well, xp conversion may be long gone, but an easy if moderately expensive solution to the "trapping" problem is getting a cl 30 Probot droid. Droid tanks for you, kills for you, while youhit each target once with whatever trap you fancy. Because you aren't doing the fighting yourself, you are not diluting the xp pool to trapping, and you climb those ranks pretty quickly. I did this to get past the Trapping IV box, which seems to be real hump in advancement. Past that, you can get to Trapping +80 with Dweezel, and should be fine for most hunting groups.

I bought that food and I was still getting 1xp for kills...

So grouping with a levl 30 droid helps?

I'd love to get past the 4x44 scouting issue but i'm level 54

I should have prefaced that "if your CL 30 or less, grouping with a Probot...."

I've been working up my alt after unlocking Jedi a few weeks back, so I have been very careful to not let my CL get too far ahead of my trapping ability. Once you hit Master Scout, it won't matter so long as you have some Dweezel available. The nice thing with the droid is that the droid can handily manage the mobs for you, so that you are free to trap them and concentrate on getting those traps to stick. For this I like the noisemakers, since the Stun effect is moderately useful and they come in stacks of 8. Bone spurs are nice too, at stacks of 6 but inflicting a Blind effect. Personally I was sticking both to help keep the droid from taking too much wear and tear.
