Thread: Specificity in Hunting Missions

Okay, I know hunting missions are specific ... but this is ridiculous ...

I have two hunting missions: Hermit Spider Guard and Kaadu (just says "a kaadu").

Found a kaadu lair, killed at least 18 males and females ... never got spam about how many I have left. I think the mission is so specific that "a kaadu male" isn't counting ...

I also found a Hermit Spider lair. Guess what ... absolutly no guards. In fact, I've killed hermit spider lairs, and I have NEVER seen a guard.

Anybody got any clue? Or how I can give up on these missions?

I gave up on them after one, back when they were first introduced. The fact that they gave you no clue as to where to find the critters turned me off right away. Just go off in some direction and hope you stumble on them.

I'd much rather take on a specific target than a vauge "find 15 of these" thing, especially when they're asking you to find spawns that aren't common. Once again, the reward offered does not reflect the effort expended or the risk taken on many of these missions.

To drop the missions, go to your data pad, they are in data, open them, click abort.

Rangers don't even do these missions. The payouts are too small for the number of creatures we have to kill - 45 tortur bulls is at least 20 missions - for 17k? When I get 7k per mission for 9 anykind torturs? No thanks.

Early on, I did these. I would group, get an explorer mission, then a regular mission for the same animal. My buddy would get 2 missions for the same creature. And if we found a random spawn, we were in fat city. If not, mainly not, we kept with the missions til the explorer mission was done. Seems I killed a lot of durnis back then. Trick is, the person with the explorer mission must hit the creature at least once for it to count as a kill for him/her.

Not a fast money maker, as we found out.

Ahhh, I forgot that you had to go into the Details to find abort. I guess I'm just used to everything being in the radial menu.

I like the idea, but it is way too specific. Plus, I know one of the missions is 15x (groups of 15) Hermit Spider Queens. To GET a hermit queen, you have to be blowing up the lair ... which means killing I'd guess 8 or so Sentrys and at least 4 regulars. PLUS, when the Queen finally comes out, two Sentrys come at the EXACT same time ... I had nothing around me at one point, next thing I know I was surrounded (literally, they moved in a circle to enclose me) by a queen, two regulars, and two sentries. I was unbuffed, but I was able to take out the queen and two sentries before I went down. Still no guard though ... which is what I was supposidly trying to hunt.

I actually believe that the missions I got were bugged. I have the Prima Strategy Guide ... granted it's not absolute authority, BUT ... there is no regular "kaadu" listed in the creature table, only male and female. Hermit Spider Guards are listed, but Hermit Spider Sentries (which is what surround the lairs I'm finding) are not.

I think the missions which have you kill ## of some creature are mainly for Rangers that have the area track ability. The rangers can find these specific creature with a little bit less difficulty than any other class.
