Thread: Mask Scent no longer works.

So I'm on Yavin, near the blueleaf temple. I put mask scent on, and when I walk by, I get attacked. EVEN THOUGH I GOT XP AND I STILL HAVE MASK SCENT ON. Why oh why does this happen?!

We know there's a bug going on in there somewhere. I've brought it to the Devs attention.

could also be that the critter that attacked you detected you. they do that sometimes

It worked perfectly fine for me last night... must be an intermitent bug.

You just want to be able to galavant around a planet with Maskscent on?
I use Maskscent, and if it worked 101% of the time like it sounds you want it to I would be here complaining. Sometimes it works sometimes it fails. Works perfect as is.
Bigger the group of agros you are going by while with Maskscent the more likely you will be detected. Only makes sense :More creatures = more chance to be detected. If it works any other way then it won't make sense.

No Dustmite, I don't expect it to work all the time, but I expect it to work when it says it's working. What's happening is that sometimes when you get Xp for masking your scent, the creature will aggro you, and it will still say you're mask scenting. But like Delta said, it's being looked at, so it's all good ^_^

Single largest problem in game and on the boards. People don't read posts. Then they come off sounding like a cynical jackass.
He didn't complain it didn't work when he ran upto the mob. He complained the nose icon was still up even though something obviously smelled through it.

If that had been the case then his Mask Scent would have dropped. The way it works is you get xp if your mask scent works and if you get a message saying that "despite your attempts at camouflage, a creature has detected you" your mask scent drops and you have to wait like a minute to put it back up again.

There is definitely something odd happening with mask scent. I was on Tatooine the other day harvesting herbivore meat. Wandered past a womprat lair that had a few greaters hanging around as I approached a ronto lair. Next thing I knew I being spammed with 'It seems you are being stalked by a greater desert womp rat' messages.
Checked, and my maskscent icon was still up, no message saying I had been detected or anything so I ignored it and attacked the rontos. Next I knew I had the 4 greater desert womp rats that generated the spam on my case too. The icon never disappeared from my character info bar, and I never saw a message saying I had been detected.
Something is certainly amiss with maskscent.

Aha! But if mask scent is up, the critters won't be stalking me, cause they can't smell me. 
I know for a fact that stalkers do not stalk you if your maskscent is up. In fact, as a 4434 CH I rely on that fact for taming some of the bigger, more viscious critters anduse it to shake stalkers all the time...

'It appears that you are being stalked by a bull rancor.'

voila! no more stalker.
Definitely something funky happening, since I have been aggro'd and stalked while masked.

You're not going to get the mask scent dropping if the critters are only stalking you. That just means that they're following you.
This is kind of an interesting case. I'll pass it along. I think I know why it happened, but if reds are attacking you (even if stalking) and you're not losing mask scent, something funky is going on.
