Thread: Dewbacks are your friends!

As a Ranger (on one server) and new Scout (on another server), here's a bit of advice I can pass on that I found out by necessity: Dewbacks are your friends!

When you're in the desolate areas of Tatooine and you draw aggro from a Cannibal Dewback, Dragonet, Feral Bantha, Scyk, Squill, etc., just run for your nearest pack of Dewbacks (non-Cannibal, of course). They're very protective of their lair and even though they won't attack you without provocation, I've seen them attack all manner of creatures that venture too close. So, when you kite the aggressive creature through a pack of Dewbacks, just turn around and start throwing traps towards the aggresive creature for experience or get some combat experience with your ranged weapons. You won't draw aggro again because the pack of Dewbacks will do more damage against the aggressor more quickly than you can. And if you happen to inflict enough damage before the Dewbacks finish their snack you can gain further experience from harvesting!

I remember sitting on a dune and watching a gang fight between a pack of Dewbacks and a herd of Banthas whose lairs had spawned too close to each other. I didn't bother to join in because I was just in awe of what I was seeing. That's what I love about being a Scout and Ranger. You get to see aspects of the game that few others do.

Can't you harvest if you inflict ANY damage if all the other damage is from non-player sources? I routinely use nearby spawns if they're handy, especially if somebody's Imp/Rebel mission is near...

I am not sure about NPCs assisting, but the general rule is whoever does the most damage gets the rights to that critter.

From what I remember Kryxal is correct. There have been several times where I got first shot or what not and lured a pack of dewbacks on top of a group of stormies, from what I remember out of all the ones I shot a couple of times, I got harvest rights.

I tend to aggree on the previous message.

The other day I got attacked by some naughty bad critters (which I couldn't handle alone).

Started running and running, then luck arrived! A squad of imps. The critters died, and I got the harvest.

because I participated in the fight.. but i didn't always get the final shot.
