ive been having problems with my harvesting droid being a big coward lately, ill be fighting something and have him standing by, and he'll all of the sudden take off for no reason. my droids not fighting or taking damage, he just up and runs off and will run about a 100m or so away before he comes back from my yelling at him. anyone else having problems with their droids?

Also I believe if an animal you are attacking does an area attack it will hit the droid and he'll run off. If you /tellpet the follow command he should come back. Unless the animal is chasing him. Then you can try and catch up or just wave goodbye lol.

Don't group with him Meish. That should solve this problem.

Another reason why harvesting droids are useless for the most part.

Spend your time running after or calling droid - how about a droid you stands and fights.

Time is money. With a killer droid, I drop a lair 30% faster. Means 2 more missions per food buff set, thats 12k. Don't even want to tell you how many more per doc buff (and I can't as I don't doc buff).

You do the math, invest the same amount of money in a fighter - same batteries, same droid repair kits. Way better tank.

What kind of modules do you have in your droid? What's the rating on the modules? Just curious how your tanking with one. I have a repair droid with 6 repair modules, but, it gets incapped pretty quick and I'm thinking that the repair modules on it are poor. Just curious what you are using.

the way i see it, you should have mostly harvesting modules with a good combat module on there for kicks.....that way it won't run quite as often, and it can also act as a useful "HEY GET HIM!!!!!!!" moment........

Raz -

I havean R2 unit with maxed armor and 4700 HAM. No repair. That's the tank. Couple of attacks, 160 range.

My hunter killer is a probot with 3000 HAM, about 50% chance to hit and160ish attacks.

My MDE likes me, he gets free metals to mess with, I get a freebie droid now and again.

As a DE and a scout, I can give you the full rundown.

Mainly, r3 adv. droids are the main harvesting droids because they have six modules, meaning higher harvesting bonus. If having the droid annoys you, talk to a M. DE and have him build you a r3 adv. droid with 5 harvesting modules, and 1 combat module, as well as an armor module. Now, your droid will both fight to protectitself and harvest corpses. But keep the r3 adv. droid with 6 harvesting modules, its great for harvesting the lowly creatures for grinding resources

Sorry Delta but I can't resist

To quote Thunderhearts answer to the CH's as to why their pets run from things:
"some pets are just cowards"

Seeing droids are a "pet"

There is your answer.

Well, I don't know about him, but I have an Adv. R3 with balanced 3 auto repair/3 combat modules and HAM of 4410 that works awesome. I send him out to attack something, and I sit back and pick at the mobs from range and take them out before they take him out. Only works up to a point though. After a certain point of higher end mobs, if you're not combat capable enough to take them down fast, they will incap your droid pretty quick (unless you have some good droid repair kits on a hotkey, run up, heal the droid, then continue with taking them down).

As for harvester droids being useless, that's a matter of how they're being used. I'm not even using my combat droid anymore really since I've decided to change my character around and go ranger/rifleman. I use my harvester droid. 107 harvest rating, and he's indispensible. Go to a lair, pick off the mobs with conceal shot, as soon as one drops, send the harvest droid, target the next mob. Hit the lair, peace, take out the new mobs that spawn, wash rinse repeat. Maybe not the most efficient way of doing things, but then again, I'm gaining XP, getting credits for the missions, plus the credits from selling the resources. Most importantly of all though, I'm out having fun doing it, and it takes one more small task off me (manually running down corpses and harvesting) so I have more time to do missions, and type to friends when I'm out group hunting =)

Ya i used a droid before just to experiment. Id still use one if his module didnt expire on usage.

Thing is to not group with him. In DAOC parlance, theres something funkly like BAF (bring a friend code) going on i think. Just kill, and send the droid out to harvest your previous kill. Doing that, ive never had a problem. As a rifleman spamming headshot/conceal shot, i find droids very useful on argo mobs when i wouldnt be able to clear the whole nest so i could harvest all the corpses in time. A droid, solved that probem for me.
