Sorry for this, but i'm still having no luck with getting to use traps thus no xp in it. I'm currently in Talus(sp) and when i go out trying to find creatures the traps are not useable. It keeps telling me, 'traps only work on creatures.' I noticed only a few other fellow scouts having problems with this. How far out must you go for traps to work? Can you throw traps on any terrain? The biggest question i have is...Does the creature have to be of a certain size? small, medium, large?? I've tried to toss traps on medium sized bugs and does not work. What's the best creature that traps will work against?

I know that's a lot of questions, but i'd really apprieciate any advice. BTW, I figured out my lack of camping..camps are no problem for me now...aside from keeping my big wookiee feet outta the fire...burnt fur no smell good..hehe.

Traps work anywhere. You have to make sure you have the creature selected. I put my traps in my hotbar up top so I can select the target and when in attack mode, just hit the function key for the trap I want to use. Make sure you are close enough to throw the trap as well.

I've never had trap problems.

As suggested, make sure you target the creature and either select throw from a radial menu or make a hotkey for it (recommended). I always pull withone trap.

Traps only work on animals. You have to target the animal and then throw the trap. They're more like grenades than traps. Also, you have to be within 50m of your target with a clear line of sight to use a trap.

Once you figure it out, you'll find that trapping xp is by far the easiest xp in the game to earn. I went from Trapping II to Trapping III in about 2.5 hours last night without even trying. I was just out trying to get Scout experience to get to Exploration II. You can use multiple types of traps per target. With Trapping II, you have six different types of traps. You can use one of each on a single mob and get trapping xp for each. On Chubas I was getting 42xp per trap (250ish per kill.) On Nightspiders I was getting 50xp per trap (300xp per kill.)

Actually some traps only work once, like the Dart and possible theBone Spurbut others like the Mesh and the Glow Juice can be used multiple times. If you have a tonof mesh traps made, go find a baby creature and just keep spamming them with traps.

MasterJawa, some traps have an effect to them, watch the target window, when the effect wears off you can hit them with that type of trap again.

and just keep spamming them with traps

isn't that considered an exploit?

Not sure if trap spamming is an exploit or not. I've only been playing since Friday. At first it seems too good to be true, but after analyzing resource usage for traps used, it balances out. Theres no way you can harvest enough resources while huntingto use 6 traps per kill. You'll quickly run out and have to kill a bunch of critters without using traps so that you can harvest the resources to make more traps. My average xp gain per killaverages out to about 100 trapping xp. It's just fun once in a while to see my trapping xp bar jump by 1000.

Exactly, Agnoir. Last night I got 900 trapping xp from killing a single Ikopi. I used 6 different traps 3 times each. 14 more of those and I'll make Trapping IV.
