Thread: Traps & Rifles. How do they work together?
How doyou scoutseffectively use traps and rifles together? Dont you have to get pretty close to throw a trap? And wouldnt that defeat the purpose of a rifle? If you guys do a few rifle shots and throw the trap when they get close that also defeats the purpose, because you are not getting the effects of the traps until they are close.
Im confused....
BTW, I use my rifle at about 60 - 64 away from my target. Im pretty sure no traps will reach that distance.
For a rifle user, traps which snare or root and traps which cause minddamage seem to be best. You can use the trap from about 45m. If you open the fight with a trap, the mob aggroes only if the trap hits.
I usually start off lying prone and taking shots of the mob from a distance. When they finally see me and run to me, I start off with a /threatenshot and throw 2 traps. If they have taken mind damage, I follow up with the /headshot to take them out. The threatenshot makes them run away for a bit (when it works,) giving you the time to throw the traps. The Bone Spur trap is a must; I can't say how many times the /headshot saved my butt....
When things get real hairy, I switch to a pistol for the up close fighting...currently my rifle is a monster at long distances, but up close it is pretty much worthless.
I can usually do pretty well with this technique, as my primary source of income is soloing destroy missions...and with those missions, clearing out the camp as fast as possible is a plus.
