Advice when a scout is lost... Without using your map you can simply follow the trial of dead carcass, it always leads to either someones camp or the nearest built up area.

Funny when noticed this *running around yelling* "Honey I'm home!!"

Agreed, waypoints are indispensable. I've gotten lost numerous times only to be saved by waypoints...

If you are really lost and so far out, you may be closer to another city.

/find city

This sets a waypoint to the closest city. Really works well. If you are too far away from original city this will set waypoint to a different city but an hour run vs 150 credits for a shuttle may be a good alternative.

I try to keep very few waypoints because I can always recreate them. Keeps the numbe of arrows to a minimum in my view. Just use /find city or /find cantina as needed.

I know you said no map, but it looks like there's confussion.

1. You can see the cities using the map by hitting ctrl-v.

2. You can deactivate waypoints by going into your datapad(ctrl-d), & using it's radial menu.

I use waypoints in cities so I can easily find things like the mission terminals and shuttle ports. When I want to go back to the city I just activate one and follow it.

Same way here. Waypoints are the easy way to go.

Easy enought to do. Do a Control-V to bring up your world map. Make sure the show cities option is on. There will be an icon showing you on the map, right click on the city you want to go to and do ACTIVATE WAYPOINT. I think that's the selection, I'm at work so can't confirm exact selection name. You then have a waypoint arrow to that city. VERY handy.

no self respecting scout will ever admit they are lost.

Way points can be set up anywhere in the city either before you leave or when you are in the field all you have to do is open the map and find the location of the city and select it and set a new way point.

ctrl+v opens map

you can either use commands to set way point or selct it from the map menu at the exact cordinants.

If you know how an XY coordinate system works, you can also use that. The first coordinate number below your radar is X and corresponds to E/W. Going West makes the number smaller, going East makes the number larger. The second number is Y and corresponds to N/S. Going North makes the number larger and going South makes the number smaller. Just be aware that for a negative number to get smaller it goes more negative and is a larger negative number. This will help when all you have are coordinates to find your destination like in a city.

As far as waypoints go, I create one in every city I visit (and rename it) strictly for returning to it from the wilderness. A glance at the map will also tell you what direction to run without using a waypoint, just remember the destination is at the word.
