Thread: Scouting and grouping... can it be done?

My question is simple how does everyone handle scout XP in groups, do you take turns, do you do ig Free for all?

Do most of you scouts find it better to solo like I have? Is scouting even viable in groups at all if you need scouting XP? Just some questions from a concerned scout that enjoys grouping but finds getting alot of scout XP in groups is impossible...

This is a problem that has plagued us since beta.

I would talk with your group members before leaving to try and reach some sort of agreement. Whether it is free for all or turns, at least everyone will be doing the same thing (assuming you actually stick to the agreement).

Personally, I find it too much of a hassle unless I happen to be the only, or at least declared main, scout for the group. I solo for most of my scout xp then work on the rest of my skills when in a group (if I concentrate on skills at all).

I'm a solo scout as well. I used to group, and we'd set up a system for harvesting and setting up camps, but it would almost inevitably turn bad after a really short time.

I was in beta and remember discussions about it... They need to make scouting more group friendly =(

Scouts in essence should be the loners of the galaxies. They are the wanderers who enjoy to travel and enjoy to live in the wilderness. That's not going to earn them a lot of friends. They're self sufficient, and that's how it's supposed to be. If you want to be group friendly, play a healer or marksman.

I regularly group with four other scouts and what we do is take two missions each, then go out into the field. We all assist on the missions but only the person whose mission it is does the harvesting. It works so far.

Lilainya, that is a pretty good system. It is not much use if you are just wandering, but nice when doing missions.

I also mostly solo as a scout. The few times I have gotten with a group, there were only 3 of us that even had the harvest skill. It's pointless for anyone else to claim they get to loot, because animals dont really give you anything to loot. So those of us that can harvest rotate our turns for the kills. Using alphabetical order works pretty easy.

When I group with my friend, a brawler which works out very well seeing as I use range, he just lets me harvest all the time from the animals. If we take down and NPC's he does the looting. Should we actually get a lot of money from the NPC's he will split it with me, but otherwise I just get my money by selling the harvested stuff. Works for us.

I mostly scout alone. I have really only gone out with a group a couple of times and it was a melee of whoever could get to the corpse the fastest. I agree scouts should be loners and this game is not group friendly for scouts. I actually like going out by myself. I only wish we had vehicle to make exploring a lot easier.
