Let me get this straight, I can acquire xp in wilderness survival skills by deploying a camp and sitting in it for a long period of time? The longer I sit in it the more xp?

Thanks

I think it also relates to how much healing occured while you where sitting. But I could be wrong.

Not so much how long you sit in the camp, but rather how many wounds the camp heals. From my own experience, it seems each wound healed equals 1% XP of the camps total. For example, if I set up a multi-camp (with a max XP of 800, although more is possible somehow as I've gotten 820 before) - and I stay in it long enough to heal 50 wound points, I'll get 400xp for the camp. If I stay in it long enough to heal 100+ wounds, I'll get the full 800.

Camps heal 10 wound points from each stat bar every 6 minutes or so, so by yourself you can get max XP from a camp by sitting in it, wounded, for about 18-20 minutes. So obviously if you have multiple wounded people in your camp, you can get max XP much, much quicker.

I don't claim this is exactly how the system works, but its a pretty good guidline if you're just looking to get XP gain.

From what I've seen, After a period of 20 minutes of idle sitting in a basic camp you will get the full max xp of 600... After a period of 20-30 minutes of idle sitting in a multi-person camp you will get the full max xp of 800... But, I believe the time required to recieve the full xp is decreased when there are more people or when there is healing going on.

This is just from what I've seen, I don't actually know how it works exactly.

Kal is right on the money about caps when sitting idle. Also I noticed that some camps do better on xp depending what materials was used. Kinda wacky. I just glad I done. Spent all day to get Survival 4. Watched a lot of tv!

Do you have to be wounded to get survival exp? Or can you just sit there in perfect health?

As stated above just go watch tv and recamp every 20-30 min this will get you 600xp regardless of wounds.

If you have also taken Novice Artisan, then survey around for a high concentration of any resource set up camp and sample for the resource in camp. The sampling will knock down your Action and Mind pools and the camp will help regenerate them faster. When you get back to town you'll have more to sell on the Bazaar.
Novice Medic is another one to help boost camp XP. I've taken all the novice skills except Brawler while I wait for Valcyn to come up, and today got deathblowed a couple of times by aggro critters who camped close enough for my corpse to be in their zone Using N.Medic skills I managed to boost health and action stats, and disbanding the camp after about 10 mins was getting 500+XP. Novice Medic skills (tendWound health/action) gave me willpower and focus wounds, but then N.Entertainer healed those....more wounds healed after they were created in camp and more XP

I got myself novic medic & entertainer. If I heal myself & do some dancing I'll usually get 400-500.
