Ok, well i finally acheived mask scent and i got through the level 3 and currently working on level 4, which is when it is actually useful.

Now, i found a red dot, and did the trick in order to raise my scouting skill.. only thing is , its 1 / 20-30 chance of succeeding, that being the case i got roughly 3 hits of 243 every time.

Is there a faster better way to do this? maybe on a different creature? I can't recall the creature i was using .. but i heard there are some that give 150 points per mask scent attempt.

The creature you do it on makes a big difference. After I got Exploration IV, I took a trip to Lok and ran around Masking Scent all over the place. I made around 15,000 XP in a couple of hours because the creatures there are SO challenging. If you have the 3000 to spare, I recommend it -- and make sure to clone yourself as well. I only died once, but I was glad I cloned.

Does being a wookie hurt your chances of success with mask scent?

I know that species has something to do with it -- Bothans, for example, are much more effective earlier on at Mask Scent than the other races. I don't know specifically how it affects Wookiees though.

There are no penalties as far as species go, just the bonus for the Bothans.
