OK, I was out far enough from my home, Mos Espa and decided to put up a camp. I put it up,sat down and didn't get anything. I went out and hunted a bit, came back with my Health bar about 1/2 way down and sat down for 5 or so minutes, still nothing. What's the trick to getting Survival XP?

If you leave the camp, or start combat within it, you effectively abandon the camp. If you are on you're own, you need to be sat in your camp for15 minutes before disbanding the camp to get the maximum XP for that camp type. I have no exact figures, but after a few minutes you will get a very small amount of survival XP, and having other people visit the camp will speed up the rate at which you reach the XP cap.

There is a little plaque by the tent. It can be hard to see. Click on that and you will get options to examine, disband the camp, and view the status of the camp (which just shows you how long it's been up, how many visitors it currently has, and how many it has had total.)

Here's what I do to build Survival experience. I survey until I find a good spot to Sample and then I pitch camp. I then start sampling inside camp. It seems to expand my sampling time a fair amount and cuts down the down time between sample attempts. I disband the camp when I am done sampling. 15-20 minutes of sampling gains 600 or so xp.
